The Amazfit Balance 2 smartwatch receives firmware version 3.39.0.4 with four new features including Route Planning, Exercise Sound Cue, and swimming heart rate tracking via Helio Strap.
The Amazfit Balance 2 smartwatch is receiving its first major update of 2026 with firmware version 3.39.0.4, bringing several new features and improvements to the $249.99 wearable.

Announced by Zepp Health on Discord and confirmed by Reddit users, this update introduces four key new features to the Balance 2:
Exercise Sound Cue - Users can now enable audio reminders during workouts that play through the watch's built-in speaker or connected headphones. This feature provides real-time feedback during exercise sessions without requiring users to constantly check their wrist.
Route Planning - One of the most significant additions, this tool allows users to plan running or cycling routes directly on the watch or through the companion app. This functionality brings the Balance 2 closer to competing with dedicated sports watches that have long offered route planning capabilities.
Helio Strap Swimming Integration - Owners of the Helio Strap secondary device can now use it to record heart rate data during swimming workouts. This addresses a common limitation of wrist-based optical heart rate sensors in water, providing more accurate cardiovascular tracking for swimmers.
Enhanced Music App - Switching between third-party audio sources has been streamlined in the Music app, making it easier for users to control playback from different streaming services or local music libraries.
Beyond these new features, version 3.39.0.4 includes several system optimizations:
- Improved vibration feedback during exercise for better haptic notifications
- Reduced system interference during diving activities
- Enhanced Zepp Coach training plan experience with smoother navigation
- Better map display with additional route information overlays
- More stable battery life performance

The update is rolling out in phases, with availability determined by region. Users can check for the update through the Zepp app when it becomes available in their area. The phased rollout approach is typical for smartwatch firmware updates, allowing manufacturers to monitor for any issues before full deployment.
The December 2025 update had already introduced Biocharge-related tools, making this the second significant firmware update in recent months for the Balance 2. These regular updates demonstrate Zepp Health's commitment to improving the device post-launch through software enhancements rather than hardware revisions.
For current Amazfit Balance 2 owners, this update significantly expands the watch's fitness tracking capabilities, particularly for outdoor athletes and swimmers who will benefit most from the new Route Planning and Helio Strap integration features.
