A retailer listing suggests Fairphone plans to give its next modular Android phone more memory than the current model. The Fairphone 6+ reportedly includes 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a new Cobalt Blue finish.
NieuweMobiel found three Fairphone 6+ listings that share the same reported configuration: 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of storage. Fairphone has not announced the phone, so the listing does not confirm the final specifications or release date.
The upgrade would give the Fairphone 6+ 50% more RAM than the Fairphone 6. Fairphone launched the current model with 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256GB of storage. That combination remains sufficient for Android apps, multitasking and several years of software support, but 12GB could give the newer model more headroom as apps grow larger.
Fairphone’s modular design remains the main reason to consider the series. The company sells phones through its official website and builds its products around repairable parts and replacement components. Buyers who keep a phone for several years can benefit from replacing a battery or damaged module instead of replacing the whole device.
The Fairphone 6+ listing also names Cobalt Blue as a new color. Horizon Black and Forest Green, which appeared with the Fairphone 6, may return for the updated model.
Pricing will decide how attractive the upgrade looks. The Fairphone 6 launched at €599 in its 8GB/256GB configuration, although the listed price shown for the current model is €549. A higher price for the Fairphone 6+ could make the additional memory harder to justify against other Android phones with faster processors or longer-established camera systems.
Fairphone buyers also accept the limits of a smaller Android phone maker. The company offers access to the Android app ecosystem, but users may find fewer accessories, less carrier support and slower retail availability than they would with Samsung, Google or Xiaomi.
