Microsoft unveiled Copilot Pages as the evolution of Copilot Chat, turning conversational AI outputs into collaborative canvases with real-time editing, rich content types, and seamless integration across Microsoft 365 apps.
Microsoft has introduced Copilot Pages, a new collaborative workspace that transforms the output of AI conversations into flexible, shareable canvases. The feature was unveiled during the January 2026 M365 Champions Community call, where product managers Constance Gervais and Oby Omu demonstrated how Pages bridge the gap between conversational AI and structured content creation.
What Are Copilot Pages?
Copilot Pages represent the next evolution beyond Copilot Chat, converting conversational outputs into collaborative workspaces that support rich content types. Users can generate pages instantly using intent-based prompts like "create a page" and then refine them through side-by-side editing with Copilot. The pages support structured content including tables, diagrams, and even interactive UI prototypes.
Key Capabilities Demonstrated
During the live demo, Oby Omu showcased several practical workflows:
- Research to Presentation Pipeline: Starting with the Researcher agent, adding results to a page, and generating a PowerPoint to communicate key takeaways
- Real-time Collaboration: Multiple users can edit simultaneously with live presence indicators, @mentions, and comments
- Content Transformation: Converting text to tables, adjusting tone and formatting, and restoring previous versions
- Cross-App Integration: Sharing pages as components in Teams for real-time collaboration without leaving the app
- Interactive UI Creation: Building interactive experiences using code-backed pages (currently rolling out in the Web tab)
Practical Prompts to Get Started
The team shared several ready-to-use prompts:
Creating Pages:
- "Create a wiki for onboarding new team members that explains our team's goals, key tools, workflows, and who to contact for help."
- "Based on our recent chat in the [Team/Project/Support] channel, create an FAQ page covering common questions and standard responses."
Editing Pages:
- "Add an introduction section to the top of the Page, and a short table of contents based on the themes or headers"
- "Turn the 3rd paragraph into a diagram with accessibility labels and a title"
Interactive UI:
- "Create an interactive UI that helps me manage my weekly team scrum. It should randomize the order of participants, time everyone with 3 minutes to speak and remind them to mention achievements, help needed, and fun plans for the weekend."
Access and Licensing
Who Can Use It?
- Anyone with an M365 license can access and use Copilot Pages
- Certain features like the Researcher agent require a paid Copilot license
- Pages are stored in SharePoint Embedded as .page files in user-owned containers
Key Differences from Similar Tools:
- Not Power Pages: Copilot Pages are separate and built leveraging the Loop experience
- Not Just Loop: While similar to Loop components, Pages have distinct features and storage patterns
- Version History: Pages maintain version history that can be viewed and restored
Integration with Microsoft 365
Pages integrate seamlessly across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem:
- Teams: Share as live components that update in real-time within chat
- PowerPoint: Generate presentations directly from pages, honoring company-branded templates
- Word: Convert pages to Word documents or PDFs from the page toolbar
- SharePoint: While not natively embeddable as SharePoint pages today, pages can be shared via links
Governance and Administration
For IT administrators:
- Pages follow the same governance pattern as OneDrive
- SharePoint Embedded containers are lifecycle-managed with user accounts
- Retention policies can be applied through SharePoint retention settings
- Admins can recover entire containers during the soft delete period using SharePoint Admin Center or PowerShell
Upcoming Events and Resources
The announcement coincided with two major community events:
- SharePoint 25th Birthday Celebration on March 2, 2026 - a free digital event highlighting SharePoint's innovations and AI-driven future
- Microsoft 365 Community Conference April 21–23, 2026 in Orlando - featuring hands-on labs and latest AI advancements
Getting Started
Users can access Copilot Pages through:
- The Copilot Library
- The Loop app (Recent Pages)
- Direct browser access with the "work/web" toggle
The product team emphasized that Pages work even if organizations haven't enabled Loop Workspaces, and components remain accessible to users with proper M365 identity and permissions.
As Microsoft continues to evolve its AI-powered productivity tools, Copilot Pages represents a significant step toward making AI-generated content more collaborative, structured, and actionable across the enterprise.
