Abxylute's new N9C controller brings GameCube nostalgia to the Switch 2 with authentic button layout, Indigo color scheme, and modern features like gyro controls and vibration options.

It has been more than four months since Abxylute revealed it has two new controllers for the Nintendo Switch 2. The two controllers are the Abxylute N6 and the Abxylute N9. While the controllers are yet to be available for purchase despite a promise of a Kickstarter launch in December, it has announced a third controller called the Abxylute N9C, and it practically turns the Switch 2 into a portable GameCube.

The Abxylute N9C, like the N6 and N9, is a deck controller that replaces the Joy-Con 2 of the Switch 2. However, instead of a Switch 2 button layout, the N9C has the layout of a Nintendo GameCube controller. It even comes in the same Indigo color and has the same colored buttons.

The Abxylute N9C has the same button layout as the original GameCube controller.

The controller connects to the Switch 2 (available on Amazon for $499) via USB-C and features capacitive joysticks, mechanical micro-switch triggers and ABXY buttons, and a dedicated C button for voice chat. Abxylute has also added a 9-axis gyroscope, turbo function, and support for macros and mapping. Owners will also be able to choose from four vibration levels.

Abxylute's new controllers are not yet available to buy, but according to Donald Zhang, the founder of Abxylute, the accessories will launch on Kickstarter on February 17. It remains to be seen if the N9, which has an integrated kickstand and support for display output, will also be launched on Kickstarter on the same day.

The Abxylute N6 and Abxylute N9C will launch on Kictstarter later in February.

The N9C represents a clever fusion of retro gaming aesthetics with modern Switch 2 functionality. By replicating the GameCube's iconic button layout and Indigo color scheme, Abxylute is clearly targeting nostalgic gamers who want to experience their favorite GameCube titles on Nintendo's latest console with authentic controls.

The inclusion of modern features like the 9-axis gyroscope for motion controls, customizable vibration levels, and macro support suggests that Abxylute isn't just banking on nostalgia alone. These additions make the N9C a practical choice for contemporary gaming while maintaining the classic feel that GameCube enthusiasts crave.

The USB-C connection ensures low latency and reliable performance, addressing one of the common concerns with wireless controllers. The mechanical micro-switch buttons and capacitive joysticks indicate a focus on precision and durability, which is essential for competitive gaming and long gaming sessions.

With the Kickstarter launch scheduled for February 17, potential buyers will soon have the opportunity to back this unique controller. The question remains whether the N9C will find enough support to move from concept to production, especially given the delayed launch of the previously announced N6 and N9 models.

For Switch 2 owners who grew up with the GameCube or simply appreciate its distinctive controller design, the N9C offers an intriguing option to enhance their gaming experience with a touch of gaming history.
