FCC certification reveals two new DJI drones, the Lito 1 and Lito X1, with leaked specs suggesting they'll replace the Mini 4K and Mini 5 Pro respectively.

The FCC is often a good source for leaks. Certification by the FCC and other commissions is often required for many devices and practically for all systems with a wireless connection. These documents usually do not contain complete data sheets but pretty reliably confirm the existence of upcoming products.

With that said, two new DJI drones, namely the DJI Lito 1 and Lite X1, have already received their certification and are allowed to be sold in the US. Exact technical details on the two DJI drones are not available at this point, although photos and some specs have already been leaked.

The DJI Lito 1 is expected to replace the DJI Mini 4K (from $239 on Amazon) or at least target the same market segment, which means the drone is not just intended for professional users. On the other hand, the DJI Lito X1 could be the successor to the DJI Mini 5 Pro. The internal storage of the smaller DJI Lito 1 reportedly has a capacity of 22GB, while the DJI Lito X1 offers around 42GB. Anyhow, these drones usually also sport a microSD slot.

Regarding the wireless image transmission over long distances, New Camera claims that these new DJI drones will rely on the O5 standard. This would result in a more or less unlimited range as long as a 5G cellular signal is available.

This FCC certification confirms what many drone enthusiasts have been speculating about for months. The appearance of these documents typically signals that a product is in its final stages of development and will likely launch within the next few months.

The naming convention is particularly interesting. DJI has traditionally used numerical designations for its consumer drones (Mini 2, Mini 3, Mini 4K, etc.), so the shift to "Lito" branding suggests either a significant technological leap or a strategic repositioning of these product lines.

For the Lito 1 targeting the Mini 4K segment, we can expect similar form factors and flight characteristics but with upgraded camera systems and potentially improved obstacle avoidance. The 22GB internal storage is notably larger than what current Mini series drones offer, suggesting DJI is betting on users wanting to capture more footage without immediately transferring files.

The Lito X1, positioned as a potential Mini 5 Pro successor, appears to be the more premium offering with its 42GB internal storage. This aligns with the Pro series traditionally offering enhanced features like longer flight times, better cameras, and more advanced intelligent flight modes.

The mention of O5 standard for wireless transmission is particularly noteworthy. If DJI is indeed implementing 5G connectivity, this would represent a significant advancement in drone control range and reliability. Current DJI drones typically use OcuSync or Lightbridge systems operating on dedicated frequencies, which can be limited by line-of-sight and interference. A 5G-based system could theoretically allow for much greater distances and more stable connections, especially in urban environments where traditional signals might struggle.

However, this also raises questions about battery life and the practicality of such long-range flights, particularly given increasing regulatory scrutiny around drone operations beyond visual line of sight.

As with most FCC leaks, we'll likely see more concrete details emerge in the coming weeks as DJI prepares for an official announcement. The timing suggests these drones could debut at one of the major tech events in the first half of 2026, possibly CES or DJI's own launch event.

The drone market has become increasingly competitive, with companies like Autel, Skydio, and even smartphone manufacturers entering the space. These new Lito models will need to offer compelling features to maintain DJI's dominant market position, particularly in the popular sub-250g category that the Mini series pioneered.
