iQOO has confirmed the 15R will feature a massive 7,600mAh battery, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, and industry-leading 4-year OS support ahead of its February 24 launch.

iQOO has pulled back the curtain on several key specifications for its upcoming iQOO 15R smartphone, confirming a massive 7,600mAh battery and industry-leading software support ahead of the device's February 24 launch in India.

The battery revelation comes from a promotional page on iQOO's Indian website, where footnotes reveal the 15R will pack a 7,600mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. This substantial battery capacity positions the 15R as a potential endurance champion in the mid-premium segment, where most devices typically feature 5,000-6,000mAh batteries.

Beyond the impressive battery, iQOO has committed to providing four years of OS updates and six years of security updates for the 15R. This extended support timeline is particularly noteworthy in the Android ecosystem, where many manufacturers offer only two to three years of major OS updates. The six-year security update commitment aligns the 15R with Google's Pixel devices and Samsung's flagship offerings, representing a significant value proposition for consumers looking for longevity in their smartphone investments.

Under the hood, the iQOO 15R will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, the flagship processor expected to deliver top-tier performance throughout 2026. The device will run OriginOS 6, iQOO's custom Android skin that has gained popularity for its feature-rich interface and gaming optimizations.

Gaming enthusiasts will appreciate the inclusion of the Q2 Supercomputing Chip, which enables 144 FPS gaming in BGMI through frame interpolation technology. This dedicated gaming chip represents iQOO's continued focus on the mobile gaming market, where smooth frame rates and responsive controls are paramount.

The iQOO 15R appears to be a rebranded version of the iQOO Z11 Turbo, which launched in China with similar specifications. The Z11 Turbo features a 6.59-inch 144Hz 1,260p AMOLED display, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. The display's high refresh rate and resolution combination should provide excellent visual fidelity for both gaming and media consumption.

Camera capabilities include a dual-camera setup with a 200MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens, complemented by a 32MP front-facing camera. The device also features an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner for secure biometric authentication and carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, making it one of the more durable options in its price segment.

Priced under INR 50,000 (approximately $600), the iQOO 15R aims to deliver flagship-level specifications at a competitive price point. The combination of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, massive battery, extended software support, and gaming-focused features positions it as a compelling option for power users and mobile gamers in the Indian market.

The February 24 launch date puts the 15R in direct competition with other mid-year flagship releases, and its specifications suggest iQOO is targeting users who prioritize battery life, performance, and long-term software support over other considerations like camera versatility or ultra-premium build materials.
