Flydigi has officially launched the Vader 5S wired controller for Xbox in the US, positioning it as a budget-friendly alternative to premium options like the GameSir G7 Pro ($79.99) and Microsoft's Elite Series 2. At $59.99 with included Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the Vader 5S introduces several engineering advancements rarely seen at this price point.

The standout feature is its mechanically adjustable joystick tension system, allowing players to customize resistance between 40 gf and 100 gf for different game genres—tight resistance for FPS precision or lighter tension for racing games. Unlike Microsoft's Elite controller, the Vader 5S implements Hall effect sensors in both joysticks, eliminating potentiometer-based drift through contactless magnetic sensing. This fundamentally changes durability expectations for sub-$60 controllers.

It also has extra mini shoulder buttons

Flydigi extends Hall effect technology to the triggers, implementing dual-mode operation: micro-switch mode provides tactile, short-throw actuation for rapid firing, while full-range mode enables progressive pressure sensitivity for driving games. This versatility addresses a common limitation in budget controllers where triggers often compromise between speed and precision.

The front panel features mechanical ABXY buttons with distinct actuation feedback, plus supplementary C and Z face buttons ideal for fighting game combos. Unique LM/RM mini shoulder buttons provide additional input layers without repositioning fingers. Back place showing rear paddles showcases the M3/M4 rear paddles, all programmable via Flydigi's Space Station software. Compared to the GameSir G7 Pro's four extra buttons, the Vader 5S offers six programmable inputs (C/Z + LM/RM + M3/M4) with on-the-fly profile switching.

Additional technical differentiators include dual rumble motors in the grips for enhanced haptic feedback and one-touch console wake functionality. While wired connectivity limits portability, it ensures sub-5ms latency competitive with high-end wireless controllers. Compatibility spans Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.

At $20 less than the GameSir G7 Pro and $140 below the Elite Series 2 MSRP, the Vader 5S redefines value in third-party controllers. Its Hall effect components and mechanical switches suggest significantly longer lifespan than typical budget options. Available now via Flydigi's website and Amazon, it's engineered for competitive gamers seeking premium features without premium pricing.
