Grand Seiko Debuts Ultra-Compact Heritage Watches with New Caliber 9F51 Movement

Grand Seiko has redefined compact luxury timepieces with two new additions to its Heritage Collection: the SBGX359 and SBGX361. These models establish a new dimensional benchmark for the brand's quartz lineup, featuring 33.0mm stainless steel cases measuring just 9.1mm thick. This represents the smallest and thinnest profile ever achieved in Grand Seiko's 9F quartz series, directly addressing wearers with smaller wrists who previously had limited access to the brand's signature high-finish dials typically reserved for larger Spring Drive models.

At the core of these releases is the newly developed Caliber 9F51 movement, which maintains Grand Seiko's renowned ±10 seconds per year accuracy despite its reduced dimensions. While based on the same architecture as the 1993-origin 9F series, the 9F51 achieves a critical 0.6mm diameter reduction compared to the current Caliber 9F61. This engineering feat enables the exceptionally slim case profile without sacrificing timekeeping precision or functionality. Both watches feature dual-curved sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating and come mounted on stainless steel bracelets with three-fold clasps.
