Infinix launches new Note series with Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 in Pro model, vapor chamber cooling, 6,500mAh batteries with self-healing tech, and Active Matrix Display on camera island.

Infinix has unveiled its latest Note series with two models: the vanilla Note 60 and the Pro variant. The lineup brings several notable upgrades, including vapor chamber cooling, massive batteries with innovative self-healing technology, and the return of Snapdragon processors to the Pro model after a five-year absence.

Infinix Note 60 Pro: Snapdragon power and innovative features

The Infinix Note 60 Pro marks a significant return to Qualcomm silicon for the brand, featuring the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 - a 4nm chip from last year. This is the first Infinix phone to use a Snapdragon processor since 2019, representing a notable shift in the company's chipset strategy.

The Pro model comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. To keep the powerful chipset cool during intensive tasks, Infinix has implemented a 3D IceCore vapor chamber measuring 4,758mm², paired with a 0.36mm copper sheet. This cooling system can reduce temperatures by up to 3°C during gaming sessions.

One of the most distinctive features of the Note 60 Pro is the Active Matrix Display - a dot-style display integrated into the camera island on the back. This innovative panel shows notification icons and offers personalization options with scrolling emojis and Pixel Pets. Users can even play mini-games directly on this display, including Dot Dash and Star Blast, adding a unique interactive element to the device.

Display and audio excellence

Both models feature a 6.78-inch OLED display with 1,080 x 2,436px resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. The panel can reach an impressive peak brightness of 4,500 nits and incorporates PWM dimming to reduce eye strain. Gorilla Glass 7i provides protection against scratches and drops.

The audio experience is enhanced by a pair of JBL-tuned stereo speakers positioned on the top and bottom of the device, delivering clear and immersive sound for media consumption and gaming.

Premium design and health features

The Note 60 Pro features a high-strength aluminum alloy chassis with contoured edges for comfortable handling. In a nod to older smartphone designs, the side-mounted fingerprint reader has been retained and enhanced with health monitoring capabilities. Through the My Health App, users can measure heart rate, heart rate variation, and blood oxygen levels directly from the fingerprint sensor.

The One-Tap Button on the opposite side offers quick access to various functions, including toggling silent mode and launching apps like the flashlight or SnapMemo organizer.

Advanced camera system

Photography capabilities include a 50MP main camera with 0.8µm pixels and an f/1.59 lens with optical image stabilization (OIS). The camera supports in-sensor 2x zoom and 4-in-1 pixel binning for 12.5MP output in low-light conditions. An 8MP ultra-wide camera (112° field of view, f/2.2) and a flicker sensor complete the rear camera setup. The main camera can record 4K video at 30fps.

Revolutionary battery technology

Perhaps the most innovative feature of the Note 60 Pro is its battery system. The device packs a 6,500mAh battery (or 6,000mAh in certain regions) that incorporates Battery Self-Healing Technology. This system uses a low current to repair micro-cracks in the battery, recovering 1% of battery health every 200 charge cycles. Infinix claims this technology will allow the battery to last at least six years of normal usage.

In terms of endurance, the Pro can deliver up to 34 hours of video playback (31 hours for the smaller battery version) or 22 hours of navigation (20 hours for the smaller version). The 90W wired charging system is remarkably fast, charging to 50% in just 16 minutes and to 100% in 41 minutes (14 and 35 minutes for the smaller battery). Additionally, the device supports 30W wireless charging.

Software and durability

The phone launches with Android 16 and XOS 16, with promises of 3 OS updates and 5 years of security patches, ensuring the device will be supported through XOS 19.

Durability features include an IP64 "rain-proof" rating and drop resistance. The Torino Black version of the Note 60 Pro has been designed in collaboration with the renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina.

Infinix Note 60: The vanilla alternative

The standard Note 60 is powered by the Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chip with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB storage. Like its Pro sibling, it features the 3D IceCore vapor chamber for cooling.

While it shares the same 6.78-inch OLED display (144Hz, 4,500 nits) and JBL stereo speakers, the vanilla model lacks the Active Matrix Display on the back, instead featuring only an Active Halo RGB LED light.

The battery configuration differs slightly, with capacities of 6,500mAh or 6,150mAh depending on the region. Wired charging is reduced to 45W, though wireless charging remains at 30W. The device maintains the same metal frame design and IP64 rating as the Pro model, along with the IR blaster.

Market availability concerns

Reader comments on the announcement reveal some frustration with Infinix's market strategy. One user from Poland noted that even when these devices become available in Europe, they tend to arrive six months late and at "absurdly expensive" prices, making them uncompetitive in the market. This highlights the ongoing challenge for brands like Infinix in establishing a strong presence in European markets despite offering compelling hardware specifications.

The Infinix Note 60 series represents a significant step forward for the brand, combining innovative features like self-healing batteries and Active Matrix Displays with solid performance and long-term software support. Whether these devices can overcome distribution and pricing challenges in key markets remains to be seen.
