Nitecore's latest power bank packs 10,000mAh into a featherlight 5 oz package with silicon-carbon cells, IPX7 waterproofing, and USB-C PD up to 22.5W.

Nitecore has unveiled its NB10000 Gen 4 power bank, pushing the boundaries of portable charging technology with a remarkably lightweight design that weighs just 5.0 oz (142 grams) while maintaining a substantial 10,000mAh capacity. This latest iteration represents a significant evolution in power bank engineering, utilizing silicon-carbon cells to achieve an impressive balance between capacity and portability.

Enhanced Capacity and Efficiency

The NB10000 Gen 4 delivers 39Wh of total capacity at 3.9V, slightly edging out its predecessor, the Carbo 10000 Gen 2, which offered 38.8Wh. This positions it above the industry standard for 10,000mAh power banks, which typically provide around 37Wh. However, the silicon-carbon cells in the Gen 4 have a lower energy density compared to the previous generation, meaning a portion of the weight is allocated to the housing and other components rather than pure energy storage.

The power bank's efficiency is particularly noteworthy. In eco mode at 1A and 5V, it delivers 7,200mAh (36Wh), while at 3A and 5V, this drops to 6,800mAh (34Wh). Nitecore attributes this high efficiency to its new internal 9V platform. The company claims these figures put the Gen 4 on par with 13,000mAh power banks from other brands, representing up to 20% more usable energy compared to the previous NB10000 Gen 3, which delivered 6,200mAh (31Wh) at 2A and 5V.

Advanced Charging Capabilities

Equipped with USB-C Power Delivery support up to 22.5 watts, the NB10000 Gen 4 is optimized for modern smartphones and other USB-C devices. The power bank supports multiple Power Delivery voltages including 5V, 9V, and 12V, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices. Pass-through charging functionality allows users to charge both the power bank and connected devices simultaneously, adding convenience for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Rugged Design for Outdoor Use

Built for durability, the NB10000 Gen 4 features an IPX7 waterproof rating, meaning it can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. The housing combines carbon fiber composite materials with a flame-retardant frame, providing both strength and safety. The power bank is designed to survive drops with minimal damage, making it suitable for outdoor adventures and everyday carry.

Innovative Lighting Features

One of the most distinctive features of the NB10000 Gen 4 is its illuminated USB-C ports. LEDs surrounding the ports activate with a simple tap on the power bank, providing visibility in dark environments. This feature is designed to work even with gloves on, though users have the option to disable it if desired. A short USB-C cable is included in the package, which doubles as a carrying loop for added convenience.

Market Positioning and Pricing

While Nitecore has not yet announced an official price for the NB10000 Gen 4, the combination of its low weight, high capacity, and advanced features suggests it will command a premium price point. For reference, the previous generation NB10000 Gen 3 currently retails for $99 on Amazon, indicating that the Gen 4 will likely be positioned in the higher-end segment of the portable power market.

The Nitecore NB10000 Gen 4 represents a thoughtful evolution in power bank design, prioritizing portability without sacrificing capacity or functionality. Its silicon-carbon cell technology, efficient power delivery, and rugged construction make it an attractive option for users who demand the best in portable charging solutions.
