Finland's Workplace Ninja community celebrates its largest live event yet, bringing together 150 IT professionals for two days of technical sessions, networking, and knowledge sharing that demonstrates the enduring value of in-person community gatherings.
What happens when passionate IT professionals, MVPs, and community contributors come together with a shared mission to learn and grow? The answer unfolded in East Helsinki last November, where Workplace Ninja Finland hosted its biggest live event to date, drawing nearly 150 attendees for two days of practical insights and collaboration.
A Community Reborn Through Resilience
The story of Workplace Ninja Finland is one of remarkable transformation. What began as an active Facebook community went dormant during the pandemic—a pause that mirrored the global tech community's collective uncertainty. But two years ago, a dedicated team of Finnish MVPs and volunteers reignited the initiative under the global Workplace Ninja brand, breathing new life into a vision of open, inclusive technical learning.
Today, that vision has flourished into a thriving ecosystem:
- 1,800+ followers engage with the community on LinkedIn
- 381 members connect daily on Discord, exchanging ideas and troubleshooting challenges
- YouTube webinar recordings and GitHub session materials ensure learning extends far beyond physical events
This multichannel approach has become a blueprint for accessible, community-driven knowledge sharing that transcends geographical boundaries.
Two Days of Global Expertise in Helsinki
The East Helsinki campus event showcased the international reach of the Workplace Ninja community. Speakers traveled from across Europe to share their expertise, including international MVPs Jörgen Nilsson, Ronni Pedersen, Morten Nilsen, and Kent Agerlund, who joined Finnish MVPs Petri Paavola, Panu Saukko, and Pavel Mirochnitchenko.
Sessions covered practical, in-demand topics ranging from the Intune community toolbox to Zero Trust deployments. True to the community's inclusive ethos, the event also provided platforms for non-MVP speakers—user group members who shared their own technical journeys, challenges, and insights. This openness not only diversifies perspectives but also nurtures emerging voices in the IT community.
Overwhelming Success and Future Plans
Attendee feedback spoke volumes about the event's impact. With presentation ratings consistently above 4.5 out of 5, participants praised the mix of expert deep dives and lighter sessions, but perhaps most importantly, the value of networking:
"I learned something from every session… This is really doing good for endpoint administrators."
"The open mindset to share best practices is priceless."
"Great combination of formats and the best part was the new contacts and discussions."
Buoyed by this success, organizers are already planning the 2026 event, with ambitions to expand participation and create even more opportunities for community engagement.
The People Behind the Magic
Events of this scale stand on the shoulders of dedicated volunteers. The event crew—Petri Paavola, Panu Saukko, Pavel Mirochnitchenko, Teemu Tiainen, Mikko Järvinen, and Kimmo Pitkänen—embodied the spirit of the MVP and Workplace Ninja communities through their tireless dedication and teamwork.
