Microsoft rolls out expanded Home customization, custom console colors, per-game Quick Resume settings, and enhanced profile badges to Xbox Insiders.
Microsoft is rolling out a significant update to Xbox Series S/X consoles for select Xbox Insiders, introducing expanded Home customization, custom user colors, per-game Quick Resume controls, and enhanced profile badge visibility. The company announced these changes on March 18, 2026, with the features initially reaching select Insiders before expanding to a broader audience over time.
Home gets more room for pinned groups One of the most substantial changes in this update is the major expansion of Home group customization. Xbox users can now add up to 10 groups on their Home screen, a significant increase from the previous limit of just 2 groups. This expansion gives players much more flexibility in organizing their game library and frequently accessed content.
Microsoft has also simplified group management, implementing a unified experience for reordering groups that mirrors how users already rearrange games on Home. In the My Games & Apps section, the company has made it easier to pin groups and added visual indicators showing which groups are already added to Home.
Xbox adds custom colors beyond the standard system palette Moving beyond the built-in system color presets, Microsoft is introducing custom console colors that allow users to create more personalized experiences. Xbox Insiders can now use sliders to create specific colors and shades that better match their preferences. The selected custom color can also appear as a subtle accent in the Guide interface.
Users who prefer not to have the accent color in the Guide can disable it through Settings > General > Personalization > Customize the guide. Microsoft notes that the system will save the last custom color selection even if a user returns to a default system color. Custom colors will first be visible to other Insiders before rolling out to all Xbox users with the April update.
Quick Resume settings now work on a per-game basis The update also introduces more flexible Quick Resume controls. Players can now disable Quick Resume for individual games, which is particularly useful for titles that may not perform well after extended periods of inactivity. This granular control allows users to optimize their experience on a game-by-game basis.
The per-game Quick Resume setting can be accessed either from the More options menu on a game tile in the Quick Resume group or through the Manage game and add-ons section. This level of control represents a significant improvement over the previous all-or-nothing approach to Quick Resume functionality.
Profile badges get more prominent placement Microsoft is also enhancing profile badge visibility in the Guide. When viewing a profile, players will now see the five most recently unlocked badges, making it easier to spot achievements and milestones while browsing Xbox profiles. This change adds another layer of social interaction and achievement sharing to the Xbox experience.
These updates demonstrate Microsoft's continued commitment to refining the Xbox user experience through incremental improvements and expanded customization options. By rolling these features out to Insiders first, the company can gather feedback and ensure stability before a wider release.

The changes arrive as part of Microsoft's broader strategy to maintain Xbox's competitive edge in the console market, where user experience and personalization have become increasingly important differentiators between platforms.
