Overview

An ad-hoc network is formed 'on the fly' as devices come within range of each other. Each device participates in routing by forwarding data for other devices.

Key Characteristics

  • Dynamic Topology: Nodes can join or leave the network at any time.
  • Peer-to-Peer: All nodes are equal; there is no central controller.
  • Limited Range: Communication is limited by the radio range of the individual devices.

Use Cases

  • Emergency situations where infrastructure has been destroyed.
  • Military operations in remote areas.
  • Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication.
