Analogue announces five new translucent colors for the Analogue 3D console, inspired by unreleased Nintendo 64 prototypes, available February 9 for $299.99

The Analogue 3D continues its colorful evolution with the announcement of five new translucent limited edition colors, expanding the console's aesthetic options beyond the original Black and White models and December's Funtastic Limited Editions.

Prototype-Inspired Colorways

Analogue has dubbed this new collection the "Prototype Limited Editions," drawing inspiration from official Nintendo 64 prototypes that were manufactured but never released to the public. The five translucent colors include:

  • Atomic Purple - A vibrant purple with a see-through finish
  • Extreme Green - Bright green translucent casing
  • Ghost - A more subdued translucent option
  • Glacier - Cool-toned translucent blue
  • Ocean - Deep blue translucent finish

These colors pay homage to the experimental phase of Nintendo 64 development, when various prototype designs and color schemes were tested before the console's final release.

Pricing and Availability

Following the pricing structure established with the Funtastic Limited Editions, the Prototype Limited Editions will retail for $299.99 each. This represents a $30 premium over the standard Black and White editions, which sell for $269.99.

Analogue has set the release date for February 9 at 8AM PST, with the company promising expedited shipping of 24 to 48 hours for all orders. As with previous limited editions, quantities will be restricted, making these consoles collector's items from the moment of release.

Complete Gaming Experience

To complement the new console colors, Analogue is offering matching controllers from 8BitDo. However, these premium controllers also carry a higher price tag than their standard counterparts. While regular 8BitDo controllers for the Analogue 3D are available for $39.99 on Amazon, the limited edition versions will cost more.

Expanding the Analogue 3D Lineup

The Prototype Limited Editions mark the second major color expansion for the Analogue 3D in just two months. The December Funtastic Limited Editions introduced eight additional colors, and now this new collection brings the total number of available colorways to 15 (including the original Black and White).

This aggressive rollout of color options demonstrates Analogue's commitment to offering personalization choices for their premium retro gaming hardware. The translucent designs particularly appeal to collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the visual aesthetic of seeing the internal components through the casing.

The Analogue 3D Prototype Limited Editions will be available to buy on February 9.

The Analogue 3D itself is a high-end FPGA-based console that plays original Nintendo 64 cartridges with enhanced features like upscaling and save states. The limited edition colorways transform this already premium device into a display piece that celebrates both gaming history and modern craftsmanship.

The February 9 release will likely see these limited editions sell out quickly, following the pattern established with previous Analogue product launches and limited edition releases.
