Chase extends Apple TV perk to Sapphire Preferred cardholders, adding a $156 annual benefit and an Apple One credit option to its mid-tier travel card.

Chase added a free year of Apple TV to its Sapphire Preferred card, matching a perk previously reserved for the pricier Reserve card.

The benefit, announced Monday, applies to both new and existing Sapphire Preferred cardholders. Users must link their Apple Account to Chase through the bank's app or website and activate the offer by December 31, 2026. The free year is worth $156 at Apple TV's $12.99 monthly rate.

Sapphire Preferred carries a $95 annual fee, compared to the Reserve card's $795. The Apple TV perk closes one of the gaps between the two cards' benefits.

Apple One subscribers can opt for a $7.50 monthly credit instead of the free Apple TV. Chase applies the credit every month the subscriber maintains an Apple One plan, up to 12 months. That covers roughly 45% of an Individual Apple One plan's $16.95 monthly cost.

Sapphire Reserve cardholders also benefit from the change. The Reserve card now includes a $15 monthly Apple One credit, up from a structure that left Apple One subscribers without the full value of the included Apple TV and Apple Music. Previously, Reserve users who subscribed to Apple One received no credit for those services since they were bundled into the larger subscription.

Apple TV launched in 2019 and has expanded its original content library with series like "Severance" and "Ted Lasso." The service competes with Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video in the streaming market.

Credit card issuers have increasingly bundled streaming subscriptions into premium card benefits to attract subscribers. Amex included Disney+ and Hulu on some cards. Citi added streaming credits to its Premier card. Chase's move brings Apple's ecosystem into that competition on a card with a lower annual fee.

The Apple TV benefit joins Sapphire Preferred's existing perks: travel insurance, purchase protection, and points on dining and travel. Cardholders earn 2x points on travel and dining, and 1x on all other purchases.

To activate, visit the Chase app or website, navigate to Benefits, and connect an Apple Account. The free year begins on the activation date. New subscriptions start immediately. Existing Apple TV subscribers can apply the benefit and receive a credit for the remaining months on their current billing cycle.
