Chuwi's new AuBox X1 mini PC combines Intel's Core Ultra 5 226V processor with 97 TOPS AI performance, USB4 connectivity, and USB PD power delivery in a VESA-mountable 5x5-inch package priced between $600-$700.

Chinese manufacturer Chuwi has expanded its mini PC lineup with the AuBox X1, a compact desktop computer positioned as a Copilot+ PC designed for local AI workloads. The system centers around Intel's Core Ultra 5 226V processor, which delivers 97 TOPS of total AI performance, with 40 TOPS specifically from the integrated NPU.

The AuBox X1's specifications reflect a balance between AI capability and practical connectivity. The soldered 16GB LPDDR5X RAM configuration could prove limiting for memory-intensive AI applications, as users cannot upgrade this component post-purchase. Storage options are more flexible, with two M.2 2280 slots supporting PCIe 5.0 x4 and PCIe 4.0 x2 configurations respectively, accommodating the included 512GB PCIe 3.0 SSD.

Port selection on the AuBox X1 is notably comprehensive for a mini PC. The system includes USB4 with 40 Gbps throughput, USB 3.2 Gen 2, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and a USB 2.0 connector. Video output capabilities are equally robust, featuring DisplayPort 1.4 alongside two HDMI 2.1 ports, with USB4 supporting 4K resolution at 144Hz refresh rates. The device eliminates traditional barrel connectors in favor of USB Power Delivery, shipping with a 100W adapter.

Network connectivity includes WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connections, while a 2.5 GbE port handles wired networking needs. The compact 5 x 5 x 1.6-inch chassis supports VESA mounting, making it suitable for behind-monitor installations.

Chuwi positions the AuBox X1 competitively in the Copilot+ PC market, with pricing expected between $600 and $700 when the device launches in late March. This pricing strategy places it alongside alternatives like the Minisforum M1 Pro, which uses the Core Ultra 5 125H processor.

The AuBox X1 represents Chuwi's continued push into the AI-capable mini PC segment, leveraging Intel's latest processor architecture to deliver substantial AI performance in a space-efficient package. The combination of 97 TOPS total AI performance, comprehensive connectivity options, and competitive pricing could make it an attractive option for users seeking local AI processing capabilities without the footprint of a traditional desktop system.
