Y Combinator startup Gooseworks is hiring a Founding Growth Engineer to build and operate AI-powered coworkers that handle marketing and growth tasks, as the company rapidly gains traction with its AI coworker platform.

Gooseworks, a Y Combinator W23 batch startup, is actively seeking a Founding Growth Engineer to help scale its AI coworker platform designed specifically for go-to-market (GTM) teams. The company, which has already attracted thousands of signups and over 50 paying customers in just a few months, is looking to expand its team as it builds out its AI coworkers that can perform real growth work.

Gooseworks operates at the intersection of AI automation and marketing technology, creating a workspace where companies can stand up and manage teams of AI coworkers that handle tasks like outbound campaigns, content creation, SEO/AEO, Reddit growth, partnerships, UGC, and influencer marketing. Each AI coworker operates with its own computer, memory, files, channels, skills, and tools—a comprehensive digital workspace that enables autonomous execution of growth strategies.

"Our thesis is that Growth & GTM work is about to transform the way coding did three years ago," said Shiv Sakhuja, founder of Gooseworks. "The bottleneck isn't the models—it's orchestration, context, and the workspace these agents live in."

The company offers two primary products: a self-serve platform where companies can deploy AI coworkers to run growth engines, and a growth-as-a-service offering where Gooseworks configures and operates bespoke growth engines for B2B startups. The latter serves as both a revenue stream and a learning loop, with customer engines being templatized into playbooks available in the self-serve product.

Gooseworks has demonstrated impressive early traction for a startup only a couple of months old. The team has built and shipped a product with paying customers, attracted thousands of signups, created a skill library with 100+ GTM skills that was featured in the TLDR newsletter, gone viral on X five times with 1.5M social impressions, and grown a subreddit to 30k monthly visitors with over 2,000 community members.

"A large part of this was done by Goose, our AI coworker," Sakhuja noted. "Now we're scaling what works—more, bigger, better for ourselves and our customers."

The Founding Growth Engineer role is a unique position split between customer-facing work and R&D. Approximately half the time will be spent building, operating, and tuning AI-powered growth engines for customers, with the other half dedicated to R&D—turning what works into self-serve playbooks that Goose agents can run autonomously.

Ideal candidates are those who live in Claude Code, OpenClaw, or Hermes and have built non-trivial agent systems on these tools. The company is particularly interested in three archetypes: high-signal ex-founders who have raised seed rounds or built profitable businesses; AI-native, high-output growth ICs with measurable proof of growth impact; and AI-native agency operators who have run growth-as-a-service for multiple companies.

The position offers a competitive salary of $140K - $200K plus 0.50% - 1.50% equity, based on experience. The interview process includes an introductory call, a working session where candidates demonstrate an agent system they've built, a paid take-home assignment designing an outbound campaign playbook, and a paid 2-4 week trial building real growth engines for Gooseworks.

Gooseworks was founded in 2022 by Shiv Sakhuja and Himanshu Bamoria, who previously built Athina AI, an LLM observability & evaluation platform used by companies like Perplexity, You.com, Doximity, Meesho, and several public companies.

As AI continues to transform marketing and growth functions, Gooseworks represents a significant step toward autonomous marketing teams that can execute complex strategies without constant human intervention. The company's focus on creating comprehensive workspaces for AI coworkers, rather than just point solutions, positions it to potentially become a foundational platform for AI-powered growth operations.
