Oppo has expanded its A6 smartphone series with four new models, creating a complex web of devices sharing similar naming conventions but differing in specifications. The lineup includes the Oppo A6 (model PLS120), A6s (PLT120), A6i+ (PLT120), and A6v (PLT130), all centered around large-capacity batteries but with distinct feature combinations.

The standout model is the new Oppo A6 (PLS120), featuring a 6.57-inch 1080p+ AMOLED display - a significant upgrade from the 720p+ LCD panels used in previous A6 models. This display incorporates an under-display optical fingerprint sensor, replacing the side-mounted sensors found in earlier versions. The device's most notable feature is its massive 7,000mAh battery supporting 80W SuperVOOC wired charging and 44W PPS (Programmable Power Supply) charging. Powering the device is MediaTek's Dimensity 6300 chipset paired with either 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, or 12GB/512GB configurations using LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, expandable via microSD.

Durability has been enhanced with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, matching earlier A6 models. Camera capabilities include a 50MP main sensor paired with a 2MP auxiliary camera on the rear, while the front camera sees an upgrade to 16MP (from 8MP in previous versions), though video recording remains capped at 1080p/60fps.

The Oppo A6s presents a curious specification mix, sharing the PLT120 model number with the A6i+. It features the same 6.75-inch 720p+ LCD panel as previous global A6 models but downgrades the front camera to 8MP (from 16MP) and reduces charging speed to 45W SuperVOOC despite retaining the 7,000mAh battery. It uses the same Dimensity 6300 chipset with 8GB/256GB or 12GB/256GB memory configurations.

The Oppo A6i+ shares identical specifications with the A6s, further complicating Oppo's naming strategy. Both PLT120 models appear functionally equivalent despite different product names. Meanwhile, the Oppo A6v (PLT130) differentiates itself with a smaller 6,500mAh battery supporting 45W charging, a 5MP front camera, and reduced IP64 dust/water resistance.

Pricing in China positions these devices in distinct segments:

Model 8/256GB 12/256GB 12/512GB
A6 ¥1,600 ($232) ¥1,900 ($275) ¥2,100 ($304)
A6i+ ¥1,500 ($217) ¥1,600 ($232) -
A6v ¥1,200 ($174) - -

The proprietary SuperVOOC charging ecosystem presents lock-in considerations. While delivering exceptional charging speeds (80W can recharge the massive battery in approximately 45 minutes), it requires Oppo-specific chargers and cables to achieve maximum performance. Users investing in multiple Oppo devices benefit from charger compatibility, but those with non-Oppo devices need separate charging solutions.

This expansion creates significant consumer confusion due to reused model names and minimal differentiation between devices. The new A6 (PLS120) stands out as the premium offering with its AMOLED display and fastest charging, while other models appear positioned as regional variants with strategic specification adjustments for different markets. Oppo's approach reflects the challenges of managing global product portfolios where regional requirements and component availability drive hardware variations under shared branding.
