Philips Hue app version 5.60.1 brings multilingual AI assistant support, custom motion detection for wired cameras, and new doorbell chime options to the smart home platform.
Philips Hue has rolled out version 5.60.1 of its smart home control app, bringing significant new features to users of the popular lighting ecosystem. The update arrives nearly two weeks after version 5.59, which focused primarily on bug fixes and performance improvements.

The most notable addition in this release is the expansion of the Philips Hue AI assistant to support three new languages: Spanish, German, and Dutch. Originally launched in June 2025 exclusively in English, the AI assistant can now recommend lighting scenes and generate customized lighting effects based on user preferences. Users interact with the assistant through voice or text prompts in a chat interface, making it easier to create personalized lighting experiences without manually configuring each setting.
For users with Philips Hue wired security cameras, including the Secure Wired camera (currently priced at $122.99 on Amazon Marketplace), the update introduces custom motion detection areas. This feature allows users to define specific zones that will trigger connected smart lights when motion is detected. The motion detection can be tailored to recognize humans, pets, or vehicles, providing more precise control over how your lighting responds to activity around your home. This setting is accessible through Camera settings > Trigger lights > Trigger area.
Hue Secure Wired video doorbell owners also receive new functionality with the ability to customize the sound chime played for visitors. Users can now select from different doorbell sounds by navigating to Doorbell settings > Doorbell sound, adding a personal touch to the visitor notification experience.
The Philips Hue app version 5.60.1 is available for download on both iOS through the Apple App Store and Android via Google Play Store. These updates continue Philips Hue's strategy of enhancing its smart home platform with AI-driven features and improved camera integration, making the system more intuitive and responsive to user needs.
For existing Philips Hue users, this update represents a meaningful expansion of the platform's capabilities, particularly for those who use multiple languages or have invested in the Hue Secure camera system. The multilingual AI assistant makes the technology accessible to a broader audience, while the enhanced camera features provide more granular control over home security and lighting automation.
