YC-backed RamAIn is hiring a founding AI/ML research engineer to build autonomous agents that automate enterprise workflows by operating software systems 10× faster than humans.

RamAIn, a Y Combinator W26 startup based in San Francisco, is building the world's fastest computer-use agents for enterprise automation. The company has just posted a founding AI/ML research engineer role with a salary range of $150K-$250K and 0.30%-1.20% equity.

The Problem: Manual Workflows Still Dominate Enterprise

Despite decades of digital transformation, enterprise teams still spend countless hours on repetitive manual workflows. Employees click through legacy systems, desktop applications, and web portals - tasks that computers should handle but current automation tools struggle with. Traditional RPA (Robotic Process Automation) requires brittle scripting and breaks easily when interfaces change.

RamAIn's Solution: AI Agents That Work Like Humans

RamAIn is developing AI agents that operate software systems the same way humans do - but 10× faster and more reliably. These agents can understand UI layouts, screenshots, and DOM structures, then take appropriate actions across messy, real-world software environments.

The company was founded by Shourya Vir Jain (CEO) and Vansh Ramani (CTO), who met at IIT Delhi before dropping out to build AI-native automation. Shourya brings enterprise experience from McKinsey, where he witnessed firsthand how much work still depends on manual interaction with legacy systems. He's also a FIDE-rated chess player with a rating of 2118, ranked top-20 globally under 16, and previously built an enterprise AI company to over 6-figures in ARR.

Vansh is an AI researcher with experience at CMU working on scalable machine learning and representation learning. His research includes publications at ICLR and ACS, and he developed "Panaroma," one of the fastest vector search algorithms, which was later merged into Meta's FAISS. He focuses on building high-performance reasoning and planning systems for real-world deployment.

The Role: Founding AI/ML Research Engineer

The founding AI/ML research engineer will join a core team of four and help build agents that reason, plan, and execute complex workflows autonomously. This isn't a research-only position - you'll ship models to real enterprise customers within your first few weeks.

What You'll Work On

  • Designing planning and reasoning architectures for long-horizon computer-use agents
  • Training multimodal models that understand UI layouts, screenshots, and DOM structures
  • Building fast action-selection systems that operate across messy, real-world software
  • Improving reliability, latency, and robustness of deployed agents
  • Running experiments and rapidly shipping improvements to production

Ideal Candidate Profile

You might be a strong fit if you:

  • Have a Bachelor's degree with exceptional hands-on experience building agentic systems, OR recently completed a PhD or Master's in machine learning, AI, robotics, RL pipelines, multimodal models, or related field
  • Move quickly from idea → experiment → deployment
  • Have built real AI agent orchestration systems
  • Are excited about agentic AI, reasoning systems, experimentation, or automation
  • Thrive in a fast-moving early-stage startup environment

Why This Matters

This role sits at the intersection of cutting-edge research and production systems. You won't just prototype ideas - you'll see your work automate production tasks used by enterprise teams. The company is pushing the frontier of computer-use agents and helping define a new category of AI-native enterprise automation.

RamAIn is looking for someone who can help them eliminate repetitive, manual workflows from enterprise teams by automating legacy systems, desktop apps, and web portals with AI that operates just like a human at the keyboard.

About the Company

RamAIn is a Y Combinator W26 company founded in 2025. The team of four is based in San Francisco and backed by YC alumni from CMU, IIT Delhi, and McKinsey. They're building what they call "the world's fastest computer-use agents" - AI systems that can literally do work by taking actions on the screen.

The company emphasizes moving fast, thinking deeply, and building things that matter. They're looking for someone who shares this philosophy and wants to help define the future of enterprise automation through AI agents that can reason and act autonomously across complex software environments.

For candidates interested in the intersection of AI research and practical enterprise applications, this role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge technology while seeing immediate real-world impact through deployed systems that automate actual business workflows.
