Vietnamese hands-on video shows Samsung's upcoming mid-range phones with pricing details, revealing the Galaxy A37 at ~$420 and A57 at ~$425, along with design changes and specs.

New hands-on videos of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 have surfaced online, revealing not only the design and specifications of these mid-range devices but also their pricing ahead of the official launch scheduled for Wednesday.

Pricing details emerge from Vietnam

The videos, originating from Vietnam, show the Galaxy A37 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage priced at VND 10,990,000, which converts to approximately $420, €365, or ₹39,000. The slightly higher-end Galaxy A57 with the same configuration is listed at VND 12,490,000, or about $475, €410, or ₹44,500.

However, these are direct currency conversions, and actual regional pricing will likely differ. For context, the current Galaxy A36 and A56 launched at VND 8,290,000 and VND 9,990,000 respectively for their 8/128GB configurations, suggesting a modest price increase for the new models.

Design and build quality

The hands-on video reveals subtle design updates. Both phones are slightly thinner than their 2025 counterparts, though the camera island now features an extra raised "step" for a more pronounced look. The "Key Island" - Samsung's term for the raised area around the power and volume buttons - remains present on both devices.

A notable difference is in the frame materials: the Galaxy A57 features a metal frame as expected for its higher tier, while the A37 uses a plastic frame similar to last year's model.

Specifications and performance

Both phones share several core specifications:

  • 6.7-inch 120Hz display with 1,200 nits brightness
  • 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging
  • 50MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro rear cameras
  • 12MP front-facing camera
  • 4K video recording at 30fps
  • 6 years of OS updates

Performance differs between the two models. The Galaxy A37 uses the Exynos 1480 chipset, which replaces the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 from the A36. Interestingly, this is the same processor used in last year's Galaxy A55, making it somewhat of a "new old" chip. The Galaxy A57 steps up with the newer Exynos 1680, promising better performance.

Both devices run One UI 8.5 based on Android 16 out of the box.

What's in the box

Following current industry trends, the box contents are minimal: a USB cable, SIM ejector tool, and quick start guide. No charger is included, which has become standard practice for Samsung's mid-range offerings.

Market positioning and expectations

The Galaxy A series continues to occupy a crucial position in Samsung's portfolio, bridging the gap between flagship S-series devices and entry-level models. With these new releases, Samsung appears to be maintaining the 8/128GB base configuration while competitors like the S-series have moved to 12/256GB as standard.

For consumers, the key considerations will be whether the performance improvements from the new chipsets justify the price increases, and how these devices compare to competitors in the same price bracket. The promise of six years of software updates remains a strong selling point for Samsung's mid-range lineup.
