Ubiquiti Debuts Rugged Cloud Gateway Industrial Router, Launches New UniFi Industrial Series

Ubiquiti has launched its new UniFi Industrial product line designed for deployments in demanding environments, with the Cloud Gateway Industrial (UCG Industrial) router leading the charge as its inaugural offering. Priced at $579 and available now, this fanless device prioritizes reliability in conditions where standard networking equipment might falter.

The UCG Industrial's defining characteristic is its ruggedized aluminum chassis engineered for passive cooling. The finned enclosure dissipates heat from its 28W base power draw without fans, eliminating moving parts that could fail in dusty or volatile settings. At 5.3 pounds, its heft contributes to thermal management while accommodating versatile mounting via included stand, optional handles ($59), or rack-mount kit ($59) for 1U installations.

Networking capabilities target industrial applications with:

• Four PoE+++ ports delivering 90W each (270W total budget)
• One 10GbE RJ45 port and four 2.5GbE ports
• SFP+ cage for fiber or direct-attach copper
• WiFi 7 (802.11be) support, though notably lacking the 6GHz band introduced with WiFi 6E

A standout feature is the upcoming Remote SIM functionality via two internal SIM card slots. Once enabled via firmware update, this will allow the UCG Industrial to host SIM cards centrally while communicating with Ubiquiti's UniFi 5G Max Outdoor modem installed in optimal signal locations—eliminating the need to physically access modems mounted on towers or rooftops for SIM swaps.

Internals include 3GB RAM and a microSD slot for local storage, supporting UniFi's ecosystem of cameras and IoT devices. Compared to consumer routers, the Industrial series emphasizes sustained operation in temperature extremes and mechanical stress scenarios where vibration resistance matters.

Ubiquiti confirms additional Industrial-series products are in development, including switches and access points with external antennas. These will likely debut at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. At $579, the UCG Industrial positions itself below industrial routers from Cisco or Juniper while offering substantially more power than Ubiquiti's $199 Dream Router. Its value proposition targets:
