Overview

In IT, change management focuses on ensuring that standardized methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt handling of all changes to control IT infrastructure, in order to minimize the impact of any related incidents.

Types of Changes

  • Standard Change: Low risk, pre-authorized, and follows a set procedure.
  • Normal Change: Requires review and approval by a Change Advisory Board (CAB).
  • Emergency Change: Must be implemented as soon as possible to resolve a major incident.

Goals

  • Minimize risk and disruption.
  • Ensure all changes are documented and traceable.
  • Improve the success rate of changes.
