Overview

Coined by Gordon Moore (co-founder of Intel) in 1965, Moore's Law has been the driving force behind the exponential growth of computing power for over 50 years.

Impact

As transistors get smaller, chips become faster, more energy-efficient, and cheaper to produce. This has enabled the transition from room-sized computers to smartphones.

Current Status

While physical limits are making it harder to maintain this pace, the industry continues to innovate with new materials, 3D transistor designs, and specialized accelerators to keep performance increasing.
