Anthropic launches Claude for Small Business, embedding AI directly into tools used by small businesses to address adoption gaps and streamline operations.

Anthropic today introduced Claude for Small Business, a new package of connectors and workflows designed to bring Claude AI directly into the tools small businesses already use. The offering aims to bridge the AI adoption gap between small businesses and larger enterprises, helping these economic engines leverage artificial intelligence for their most pressing operational challenges.

Small businesses represent 44% of U.S. GDP and employ nearly half the private-sector workforce, yet their AI adoption has lagged significantly behind larger enterprises. This discrepancy stems from tools and training rarely being tailored to the unique operational realities of small businesses, resulting in AI usage typically limited to basic chat interactions.

"Small businesses make up nearly half the American economy, but they've never had the resources of bigger companies," said Daniela Amodei, Co-founder and President of Anthropic. "AI is the first technology that can finally close that gap, which is why we're launching Claude for Small Business, alongside training and partnerships to make sure AI shows up for the entrepreneurs and communities who need it most."

Claude for Small Business operates as a toggle install within Claude Cowork, connecting to existing tools without requiring businesses to overhaul their workflows. The integration supports seven major platforms: Intuit Quickbooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365.

The solution comes equipped with 15 ready-to-run agentic workflows across finance, operations, sales, marketing, HR, and customer service, plus 15 skills targeting the most time-consuming repetitive tasks identified by small business owners. These include:

  • Payroll planning with QuickBooks and PayPal integration
  • Month-end closing with automated reconciliation and P&L generation
  • Business insights dashboard showing cash position, sales trends, and pipeline movement
  • Campaign management from strategy to asset creation in Canva
  • Invoice chasing, margin analysis, tax preparation, and contract review

"Not only could it problem-solve for me, it also showed me problems I didn't know I had," one beta tester noted. "What we used to think were the constraints are just not constraints anymore. It's empowering."

Addressing a primary concern of small business owners, Anthropic has built the system with trust and security at its core. Half of small business owners cite data security as their biggest hesitation about AI. Claude for Small Business maintains existing permissions, requires user approval before executing tasks, and doesn't train on business data by default on Team and Enterprise plans.

Recognizing that tools alone aren't sufficient, Anthropic partnered with PayPal to launch "AI Fluency for Small Business," a free online course taught by business owners who have successfully integrated AI into their operations. The course covers identifying appropriate AI use cases and implementing AI safely and responsibly.

"PayPal is proud to partner with Anthropic to help small and medium-sized businesses harness the full potential of the AI-led economy," said Amy Bonitatibus, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at PayPal. "Together, we are equipping these business owners and entrepreneurs with the tools, expertise, and trusted infrastructure they need to compete and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy."

To provide hands-on support, Anthropic is launching the Claude SMB Tour, a series of free, half-day live AI fluency training workshops in ten cities across the United States. Each stop will accommodate 100 local small business leaders and includes a one-month Claude Max subscription.

As part of its public benefit mission, Anthropic is also partnering with small business-focused nonprofits to ensure the benefits of AI reach historically underserved communities. These partnerships include:

  • Supporting the Workday Foundation Solopreneurship Accelerator Program with Workday and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC)
  • Collaborating with Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) including Accion Opportunity Fund, Community Reinvestment Fund USA, and Pacific Community Ventures

"Small and mid-market businesses fuel our economies, and for decades, QuickBooks has been proud to be their trusted financial partner," said a representative from Intuit. "By integrating the agentic AI capabilities of our QuickBooks platform into Claude for Small Business, we're providing small businesses with AI-powered automations and experiences that allow them to remove the complexities of managing their finances."

The announcement comes as Anthropic continues expanding its enterprise offerings. The company recently raised usage limits for Claude and established a new compute partnership with SpaceX to increase capacity. Anthropic is also developing specialized solutions for financial services and insurance organizations, with new Cowork and Claude Code plugins, Microsoft 365 integrations, and connectors.

Claude for Small Business represents Anthropic's strategic focus on making AI accessible to businesses of all sizes, particularly those that have historically been last in line for new technology. By embedding AI into existing workflows rather than requiring businesses to adopt entirely new systems, Anthropic aims to accelerate AI adoption among the small business community that forms the backbone of the economy.

Business owners interested in Claude for Small Business can learn more and access the AI Fluency for Small Business course through Anthropic's official product page. The complete list of skills, automations, and connectors is available on their solutions page.
