Casio unveils four transparent G-Shock GA-V01 models with skeleton cases and a striking orange colorway, maintaining the iconic 'alien eyes' design while adding visual depth through see-through construction.

Casio has taken its futuristic G-Shock GA-V01 series to new heights with the introduction of the Transparent Pack collection. The four new models maintain the watch's distinctive alien-inspired aesthetic while introducing skeleton-style transparent cases that reveal the intricate internal mechanics.

The lineup includes the GA-V01SKE-3A (neon green), GA-V01SKE-4A (orange), GA-V01SKE-6A (purple), and GA-V01SKE-8A (black). Each model features the signature large inverted LCD display that gives the watch its unmistakable "alien eyes" appearance. The orange variant stands out as the collection's highlight, seemingly replacing the silver model from the original lineup that launched in China in February 2025.

Despite the transparent makeover, Casio hasn't compromised on the durability that G-Shock watches are renowned for. The GA-V01SKE series retains the integrated bezel-and-band construction that protects the central module from impacts. The massive 3D hour markers that hover over the glass serve a dual purpose – they're not merely decorative but actually function as bumpers to absorb shocks.

One of the most innovative features is Casio's magnetic holding structure for the analog hands. This system uses magnetic force to attach the hands to the movement. In practical terms, if you accidentally bash your wrist against a doorframe or other hard surface, the "Shock Release Hand" mechanism allows the hands to shake or shift out of position. This deflection absorbs the impact before the hands snap back into their proper position, preventing damage to the movement.

The new collection maintains the oversized proportions of its predecessor, measuring 58.2mm wide and 19.6mm thick, with a weight of 74g. These dimensions ensure the watch remains true to G-Shock's bold, statement-making design language. As expected from a G-Shock, the watch is shock-resistant and water-resistant to 200 meters, making it suitable for both everyday wear and more demanding activities.

Functionally, the GA-V01SKE doesn't disappoint. It offers practical features including World Time for 48 cities, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, five daily alarms, and Auto Dual LED lighting. Perhaps most impressively, Casio claims a 10-year battery life, which is exceptional for a digital-analog watch with these features.

Pricing and availability for the Casio G-Shock GA-V01SKE series starts at ¥24,200 (approximately $155) in Japan, where pre-orders are available starting today. The watches will be available for purchase from Casio stores and authorized retailers later this month. Based on the original GA-V01 series' distribution pattern, we can expect a wider release across the US, UK, and Europe in the coming months.

The transparent treatment adds a new dimension to the GA-V01's already striking design, allowing wearers to appreciate the watch's internal mechanics while maintaining its futuristic aesthetic. For G-Shock enthusiasts and collectors looking for something that stands out from traditional opaque designs, the GA-V01SKE series offers a compelling combination of visual innovation and the rugged reliability that has made G-Shock an icon in the watch industry.
