Honor has launched the X5d and X5d Plus, which are rebranded versions of last year's X5c models with a new Tidal Blue color option.
Honor has quietly launched two new budget smartphones, the X5d and X5d Plus, though they're not exactly new devices. These phones are essentially rebranded versions of the Honor X5c and X5c Plus that debuted in 2025, now available with a fresh Tidal Blue color option alongside the existing Midnight Black.

Familiar Hardware, Updated Colors
The X5d series maintains the same hardware specifications as their predecessors. Both models feature a 6.74-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution (1600 x 720 pixels) and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. The displays include a waterdrop notch housing a 5MP selfie camera, while a side-mounted fingerprint scanner provides biometric security.
Under the hood, both phones are powered by MediaTek's Helio G81 chipset, a capable mid-range processor for everyday tasks and light gaming. They come with 4GB of RAM, with storage options varying between the two models - the standard X5d offers 64GB of internal storage, while the Plus variant doubles that to 128GB.
Software and Battery Life
Both devices run MagicOS 9.0, Honor's custom Android skin based on Android 15. This provides users with the latest Android features and Honor's software enhancements. Powering these devices is a substantial 5,260mAh battery, which should easily last through a full day of heavy use and potentially two days for more moderate users. Charging is handled via a 15W wired connection, which is standard for this price range.
Camera Systems
The camera setups differ slightly between the two models. The X5d Plus features a more capable 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, while the standard X5d makes do with a 13MP shooter with an f/2.2 aperture. Both phones include an auxiliary QVGA (0.08MP) module, which is typically used for depth sensing or other computational photography features. The X5d Plus's higher-resolution main sensor should provide better detail and low-light performance.
Durability and Pricing
Both models come with IP54 ingress protection, offering resistance against dust and splashes - a welcome feature in the budget segment. The phones are available in two color options: the new Tidal Blue and the classic Midnight Black.
Currently, the X5d and X5d Plus are listed in Malaysia with the following pricing:
- Honor X5d (4GB/64GB): MYR 369 ($93)
- Honor X5d Plus (4GB/128GB): MYR 459 ($115)
These competitive price points position the devices as solid budget options in the Malaysian market, offering features like a 90Hz display and large battery at an accessible price point.
While the X5d and X5d Plus don't bring any groundbreaking innovations, they represent Honor's strategy of refreshing existing models with new color options and maintaining their presence in the budget smartphone segment. For consumers looking for an affordable device with modern features like a high refresh rate display and large battery, these rebranded models offer good value, especially considering their IP54 rating and MagicOS 9.0 based on the latest Android version.
