Lenovo’s new media tablet targets movie watching, music playback and video calls with a larger Dolby Vision display, JBL speakers and a built-in rotating kickstand.

Lenovo introduced the Tab Plus Gen 2 Tuesday with a 12.1-inch LCD, nine JBL speakers and Android 16, giving its entertainment tablet a bigger screen and stronger audio focus than the 2024 model.
The tablet uses a 2,560 x 1,600 LCD with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and up to 800 nits in High Brightness Mode. Lenovo also keeps the built-in kickstand, which can rotate 360 degrees for landscape video or portrait video calls.
Audio drives the upgrade. The first Tab Plus used eight JBL speakers. The Gen 2 model adds a ninth speaker and supports Dolby Atmos. Lenovo gives users Dynamic, Movie and Music modes for Dolby Audio processing. A Bluetooth speaker mode lets you play music from a phone through the tablet’s speaker system, which gives the device a role beyond streaming video.
Lenovo equips the Tab Plus Gen 2 with MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 chip, 6GB, 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of storage. A microSD slot accepts cards up to 2TB, a useful choice for users who keep movies, music or offline maps on the device instead of relying on cloud storage.
The 10,200mAh battery can run up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming, according to Lenovo. The tablet supports 45W charging, though buyers will need their own charger. The USB-C port uses USB 2.0 speeds, so large file transfers over cable will take longer than they would on tablets with faster USB standards.
Lenovo ships the tablet with Android 16 and promises two OS upgrades, which takes the device to Android 18. The company also promises four years of security patches through 2030. That policy gives the tablet a clear support window, though Samsung, Apple and Google still set higher expectations on some competing devices.
The ecosystem story stays practical. Lenovo offers the Tab Pen Plus stylus and Lenovo Wireless Keyboard as accessories, so the Tab Plus Gen 2 can handle notes, browsing and light document work. Buyers who want a laptop replacement should weigh the Dimensity 7400, USB 2.0 port and Android tablet app support before treating it as a work device.
The speaker hardware adds bulk. The tablet weighs 775 grams and measures 6.8mm at its thinnest point, while the speaker bump reaches 22.7mm. Lenovo also offers a Sleeve Suite case for users who plan to carry it often.
Lenovo plans to sell the Tab Plus Gen 2 in select markets at $400 or 370 pounds. GSMArena reported Lenovo pages for the UK, Australia and Singapore, though those pages redirected to a general tablets page at publication time. Lenovo also earned an iF Design Award for the tablet.
