CAD renders have surfaced showing a Miyoo clamshell handheld with a removable battery door and design elements seemingly borrowed from TrimUI's handheld lineup.
New CAD renders have surfaced online showing what appears to be a Miyoo-designed clamshell handheld that borrows heavily from TrimUI's design language while adding some unique features of its own.

The handheld adopts the familiar clamshell form factor popularized by devices like the Retroid Pocket Flip 2, with a design reminiscent of the classic Game Boy Advance SP. The renders reveal a device with a D-Pad, ABXY buttons, and two pill-shaped buttons above the D-Pad that appear to be Start and Select functions.

However, the most striking design elements seem to have been directly inspired by TrimUI's handheld lineup. The device features three round buttons positioned above the D-Pad, flanked by speaker grilles on each side. While TrimUI typically uses these three buttons for Options, Start, and Select functions, this Miyoo variant has circle, square, and triangle markings instead, suggesting different functionality that remains unknown at this time.
The TrimUI influence extends beyond just the button layout. A textured toggle switch positioned above the power button on the right side mirrors the design found on the TrimUI Brick, which is currently available on Amazon for $79.99.

Additional features visible in the renders include:
- Inline shoulder buttons
- Audio jack
- Two USB ports
- Two TF card slots (one on each side)
- Two tiny buttons between the audio jack and USB-C port at the bottom
- Two LEDs at the top right corner, similar to the Miyoo Mini Flip
The most notable feature is the removable battery door, which is relatively uncommon in modern handheld gaming devices. This design choice could make battery replacement significantly easier compared to devices with sealed battery compartments.
Currently, there's no information about whether this device is merely a concept or actively in development. The renders originated from Tieba Baidu and were shared on the r/sbcgaming subreddit, but no official announcements have been made by either Miyoo or TrimUI regarding this particular design.
The handheld gaming market continues to evolve rapidly, with manufacturers experimenting with various form factors and features to capture different segments of retro gaming enthusiasts. This Miyoo clamshell appears to be targeting users who appreciate the nostalgic Game Boy SP design while wanting modern features and expandability.
Whether this device will move from renders to reality remains to be seen, but it certainly showcases interesting design directions that could influence future handheld gaming devices.
