Three Critical Questions for Security Leaders
To assess whether your security program is actually reducing risk or just moving tickets, ask these three questions:
What is your median time to remediate a validated, exploitable finding? If you can't answer this, you're measuring activity, not outcomes. The metric should reflect the time from identification to confirmed risk elimination, not just ticket closure.
When a fix is applied, how do you confirm it worked? If the answer is "the engineer closed the ticket," ask yourself how many of those remediated findings would survive a retest. The validation process should be automated and independent of the remediation team.
