Motorola's Moto G67 arrives with a weaker processor and smaller battery than 2024's Moto G64

Motorola's new Moto G67 brings AMOLED display and updated design but downgrades from last year's G64 with a weaker Dimensity 6300 chip and smaller 5,200mAh battery.

Motorola has unveiled the Moto G67, a new mid-range smartphone that takes an interesting approach to the G series lineup. While the phone shares its design with the Moto G67 Power released in November 2025, it actually represents a step backward in terms of core specifications compared to 2024's Moto G64.

Display and Design

The Moto G67 features a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. This marks a significant upgrade from the Moto G67 Power's 6.7-inch LCD panel, bringing OLED technology to the standard G67 model. The phone maintains Motorola's signature camera island design with four circular cutouts, though only two house actual cameras - the other two contain an ambient light sensor and LED flash.

Performance: A Downgrade from Last Year

Here's where things get interesting. The Moto G67 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, paired with 4GB or 8GB of RAM. Users can enable RAM boost to get up to 12GB or 24GB respectively. While this is a capable mid-range chipset, it's notably less powerful than the processor found in the 2024 Moto G64.

The Dimensity 6300 is positioned below the Dimensity 7025 Ultra that powered last year's model, representing a curious choice by Motorola to use a less powerful chip in their 2025 offering. This decision might be aimed at hitting a specific price point, but it's unusual to see a generational downgrade in processing power.

Camera System

The camera setup includes a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, paired with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera. The front-facing camera is a 32MP shooter. All three cameras can record 1080p video at 30fps, with the main rear camera also supporting 60fps recording. A dual capture mode allows simultaneous use of front and rear cameras for photos and videos.

Battery and Charging

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the Moto G67 is its battery capacity. The phone comes with a 5,200mAh battery with 30W wired charging support. This is notably smaller than the 6,000mAh battery found in the 2024 Moto G64. While the AMOLED display is typically more power-efficient than LCD, the reduction in battery capacity combined with the weaker processor suggests Motorola is targeting different priorities with this model.

Other Features

The Moto G67 includes stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, dual microphones, a headphone jack, fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, dual SIM support, and an IP64 dust and water resistant rating. The phone ships with Motorola's Hello UX on top of Android 16.

Availability and Pricing

The Moto G67 is available starting today in Europe in Pantone Arctic Seal and Pantone Nile color options. While Motorola hasn't disclosed pricing details in the announcement, the specification choices suggest this will be positioned as a more affordable option compared to the G64.

How It Compares

When compared to the 2024 Moto G64, the G67 presents a mixed bag. The AMOLED display is a clear upgrade, offering better contrast and power efficiency. However, the weaker processor and smaller battery represent significant compromises. The camera system appears similar in capability, though the specific sensor choices may yield different results in real-world use.

This strategy of releasing a phone with both upgrades and downgrades compared to its predecessor is unusual but not unprecedented. Motorola may be targeting a different segment of the market or responding to component availability and pricing pressures.

The Moto G67's positioning will ultimately depend on its final price point. If Motorola can offer this phone at a significantly lower price than the G64 while maintaining the core user experience, the trade-offs might be justifiable for budget-conscious consumers.
