OnePlus is preparing a Pro variant of its Pad 3 tablet with a 13.2-inch custom display and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, alongside a compact 8.8-inch Pad Mini powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

OnePlus is expanding its tablet lineup with two new models in development, according to details shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The company is working on both a premium Pro variant of the Pad 3 and a compact tablet that could be marketed as the Pad Mini.

The OnePlus Pad 3 Pro represents a significant upgrade over the standard Pad 3, which launched in June 2025. The Pro model will feature a custom 13.2-inch display, making it larger than the current 11.6-inch Pad 3. This larger screen real estate should appeal to users who prioritize media consumption and productivity tasks on their tablets.

Powering the Pad 3 Pro will be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which represents the latest in mobile processing technology. This high-end processor should deliver substantial performance improvements for demanding applications, multitasking, and gaming. The tablet will also include up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, providing ample memory and fast storage speeds for power users.

Battery life appears to be a priority for the Pro model, with the tipster mentioning a large battery capacity. While specific mAh ratings weren't provided, this suggests OnePlus is targeting all-day usage for demanding users. The device will be available in green and titanium color options, offering a premium aesthetic to match its high-end specifications.

Separately, OnePlus is developing a more compact tablet with an 8.8-inch display. This smaller form factor could appeal to users who prefer more portable devices or those who find current tablets too large for comfortable one-handed use. The compact model will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, which, while not the latest generation, still offers excellent performance for most tablet use cases.

One notable feature of the smaller tablet is its soft-light display technology. This could indicate a focus on eye comfort, potentially including features like reduced blue light emission or adaptive brightness that's gentler on the eyes during extended use. The tipster suggests this model will launch after the Pad 3 Pro and may debut as the OnePlus Pad Mini.

The staggered release strategy makes sense, allowing OnePlus to target different market segments with each device. The Pro model caters to power users and those who want the largest possible screen, while the Mini targets portability-focused consumers and those who prefer more compact devices.

This expansion of OnePlus's tablet lineup follows the company's growing commitment to the tablet market since the original OnePlus Pad launched in 2023. By offering multiple size options and performance tiers, OnePlus is positioning itself to compete more directly with established players like Apple's iPad lineup and Samsung's Galaxy Tab series.

While pricing and exact launch dates remain unknown, the specifications suggest OnePlus is aiming to deliver competitive value across both models. The combination of high-end processors, ample memory and storage, and thoughtful features like the soft-light display indicates these tablets could be compelling options when they eventually reach the market.

The development of these tablets comes at a time when the tablet market continues to evolve, with manufacturers increasingly focusing on productivity features, larger displays, and performance that can rival traditional laptops. OnePlus's approach of offering both a large Pro model and a compact Mini variant shows an understanding of diverse user needs in this space.
