Pebble Time 2 Production Update: Mass Production Starts March 9, First Watches Arrive in April

Featured image

After months of development and testing, Pebble Time 2 is finally entering mass production on March 9, 2026. The first watches are expected to reach customers by early April, with all pre-ordered units scheduled for delivery by early June.

Production Timeline and Delivery Schedule

Based on current estimates, the production line will ramp up to our target output of 500 watches per day. Finished watches will ship from the factory weekly to our distribution center, where they'll be packed and prepared for delivery. The entire process from factory to customer takes approximately 2-3 weeks.

Key Dates:

  • March 9, 2026: Mass production begins
  • Early April 2026: First watches arrive at customer wrists
  • Early June 2026: All pre-ordered Pebble Time 2s delivered

If your original delivery estimate was December, expect your watch in April. If it was April, expect June delivery. Unfortunately, we cannot predict exact delivery dates for individual orders - please don't email asking, as we'll direct you to this post.

Waterproof Testing Success

One of the most critical aspects of the Pebble Time 2 development has been achieving reliable waterproofing. After extensive testing and improvements (building on work from last summer's Pebble 2 Duo waterproofing efforts), we're pleased to announce that PT2 has passed all waterproof tests with a rating of 30 meters or 3ATM.

This means you can:

  • Get your watch wet without worry
  • Wear it while swimming (but not in hot tubs/saunas)
  • Wash your hands and dishes with it on
  • Shower with it (avoid hot water)

Important limitations:

  • Not suitable for diving
  • Avoid exposure to hot water (can weaken waterproof seals)
  • Don't subject to high-pressure water
  • Not invincible - treat with reasonable care

Order Confirmation Process

A few weeks before your watch ships, you'll receive an email with a link to:

  • Confirm your shipping address (update if needed)
  • Select optional accessories (extra chargers and straps)
  • Pay any applicable tariffs, VAT, or taxes

Tariff Information:

  • US orders: $10 per watch
  • Other countries: VAT/taxes calculated during order confirmation
  • No additional payments required upon delivery
  • No customs forms to deal with

Index 01 Production Update

The Index 01 smart ring is also progressing well through the Production Verification Test (PVT) phase. We've manufactured several hundred units so far, with waterproof testing going smoothly at a rating of 1 meter submersion (IPX8).

What this means for Index 01:

  • Safe for hand washing and dish washing
  • Can be worn in the shower
  • Suitable for everyday water exposure
  • Not suitable for swimming

Ring Sizing Solution

To ensure perfect fit, we're developing an Index 01 ring sizer kit available for $10 (hopefully including worldwide shipping). This will let you measure your index finger and find your exact Pebble-specific ring size.

Important sizing note: Our ring sizes differ from Oura and other smart rings, so accurate measurement is essential.

We're also considering offering sizes 14 and 15, but this requires significant upfront investment (~$50,000) for additional tooling. If you need these larger sizes, please sign up to show your interest.

Pebble Round 2 Update

February Pebble Production and Software Updates | rePebble Blog

Pebble Round 2 development is progressing well, with the Design Verification 1 (DVT1) phase completed just before the Lunar New Year holiday. A major advantage of PR2 is that its electrical design is nearly identical to Pebble Time 2, allowing our two-person firmware team to develop features and fixes that work across both devices.

Current timeline estimates PR2 mass production to start in late May, following waterproof testing and final tweaks.

Software Development Highlights

Our software team has been incredibly productive, fixing bugs and adding features across the entire Pebble ecosystem. Here are the major updates:

Weather and Communication Fixes

  • Weather functionality restored: Works in sunrise/sunset timeline pins and the Weather app
  • WhatsApp calls: Now appear as calls on Android devices
  • Background crash bug fixed: Major iOS crash that prevented weather and other apps from fetching live data has been resolved
  • WebSocket support added: Enhanced connectivity for iOS

App Store and Compatibility

  • Native app store integration: Pebble Appstore is now built into the mobile app (v1.0.11.1 on beta channels)
  • Web app store updated: Check apps.repebble.com for the latest version
  • Weather API compatibility: The mobile app now intercepts requests to deprecated APIs (Yahoo, OpenWeather) and returns data from Open-Meteo, keeping old watch faces functional
  • App filtering: Filter out older apps with non-working settings or companion apps, or specifically find open-source apps

Developer Tools and Features

  • PebbleKit 1.0 Android: Some apps should work again (thanks to restored com.getpebble.android.provider.basalt)
  • PebbleKit 2.0 Android: Developers encouraged to upgrade for new companion apps
  • Watch settings sync: Settings can now be adjusted in the mobile app and synced across all Pebble watches
  • New app icons: Community contributions added icons for apps that didn't exist 10 years ago
  • Left-handed mode: Wear your Pebble on the right hand with buttons flipped (thanks Claudio!)
  • Health data sync: Health data now syncs from watch to phone (thanks Michael!)

SDK and Developer Updates

We've made significant advances on the SDK and developer front. Expect a detailed update very soon with new tools and capabilities for the Pebble development community.

The Hardware Manufacturing Reality

Building hardware is fundamentally different from software development. You can't easily fix hardware issues after shipping, which makes the final production phase both exciting and stressful.

During the Production Verification Test phase, we manufactured hundreds of units to uncover and fix issues. Just before the factories shut down for Lunar New Year, we received confirmation that all tests passed on the final build.

However, hardware manufacturing involves constant balancing of:

  • Cost: Every component and process affects the final price
  • Quality: Meeting durability and performance standards
  • Speed: Getting products to market efficiently

Last-minute changes are common and sometimes expensive. For example, the production line recently needed 3 additional test fixtures for Index 01 mic performance testing, along with a major production test software update - significantly increasing costs.

Factory Operations and Timeline

The factory is currently closed for Lunar New Year and will reopen around the end of February. Production schedules are always subject to change - if we encounter any problems, production stops until we fix them.

Mass Production Plan:

  • Start Date: March 9, 2026
  • Target Output: 500 watches per day
  • Cumulative Production: Increasing weekly as line ramps up
