Realme expands its 16 Series with the 16T, featuring a massive 8,000 mAh battery, 144Hz display, Dimensity 6300 chipset, and AI-enhanced camera system.
Realme today expanded its 16 Series with the introduction of the Realme 16T, bringing the total number of smartphones in the lineup to four. The new device stands out with several notable features, particularly its impressive 8,000 mAh battery and 144Hz display, positioning it as a contender in the mid-range smartphone market.

The star attraction of the Realme 16T is undoubtedly its massive 8,000 mAh battery, which Realme claims can last up to 7 years and deliver 3 days of endurance on a single charge. This capacity is particularly noteworthy in an era where battery sizes have plateaued around 5,000 mAh for most devices. The battery supports 45W charging and also functions as a power bank with 15W reverse wired charging capability. Additionally, the phone features all-scenario bypass charging, which can optimize power consumption by bypassing the battery when the phone is plugged in and in use.
Camera capabilities are another highlight of the Realme 16T. The device features a 50MP primary camera on the rear, utilizing the Sony IMX852 sensor, which Realme markets as the "50MP Sony IMX852 AI Camera." The camera is accompanied by a 2MP monochrome unit. The primary camera incorporates several AI-powered photography features, including AI Portrait Glow, which "intelligently analyzes the lighting around subjects and applies supplementary lighting effects to enhance subject brightness." This feature offers four lighting effects: Flash, Studio Light, Natural Light, and Rim Light.
Realme has also included its LumaColor IMAGE technology, which promises "True-to-Life Skin Tones" in photographs. The camera module on the back includes Aura Flash and a selfie mirror, practical features that enhance the photography experience. The back cover of the Realme 16T features the Gleaming Wings Design, though this aesthetic is exclusive to the Aurora Green colorway.

The display is a 6.8-inch HD+ LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, which should provide smooth scrolling and gaming experiences. The display reaches a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, making it reasonably visible in outdoor conditions. The front features a centered punch hole housing a 16MP selfie camera. Unlike many modern smartphones, the Realme 16T does not include a fingerprint scanner under the display; instead, it's embedded in the power button on the right side of the device.
Under the hood, the Realme 16T is powered by the Dimensity 6300 SoC, paired with up to 8GB of RAM. The device runs Realme UI 7.0 out of the box, though Realme has not yet specified how many years of software support the phone will receive. This information is becoming increasingly important to consumers who prioritize long-term usability and security updates.
Additional features include a 5,300 mm² vapor chamber for cooling, MIL-STD-810H certification for durability, and multiple IP ratings (IP66, IP68, IP69, IP69K, and IP69 Pro), indicating water and dust resistance. The phone also includes a microSD card slot for storage expansion by up to 2TB, addressing the growing trend toward cloud storage while maintaining local flexibility.
The Realme 16T comes in three colorways: Aurora Green, Starlight Black, and the India-exclusive Starlight Red. It is offered in three memory configurations: 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB, priced at INR29,999, INR31,999, and INR34,999, respectively. These prices position the device in the competitive mid-range segment, where it will face numerous alternatives from brands like Xiaomi, Samsung, and others.
The Realme 16T will go on sale in India starting May 27 through Realme's Indian website, Flipkart, and mainline retail stores. The launch adds another option for consumers seeking a device with exceptional battery life and smooth display performance, though the pricing may raise questions about value proposition given the mid-range chipset.
In the broader ecosystem context, the Realme 16T continues the brand's strategy of offering feature-rich devices at competitive prices. However, the lack of information regarding software support duration is a potential concern for consumers planning to use the device for several years. As the smartphone market matures, software support has become a key differentiator, with brands like Google, Samsung, and increasingly even some Chinese manufacturers committing to longer update cycles.
