Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition ahead of its April 2 launch, featuring new color options including a vegan leather variant, a 50MP camera instead of the standard 108MP, and a larger 5,800mAh battery with 45W fast charging.
Ahead of its official launch on April 2, Xiaomi India has revealed the design and specifications of the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition, offering a closer look at what differentiates this variant from the standard model released in December 2025.
The most noticeable change comes in the form of new color options. While the standard Redmi Note 15 5G is available in Black, Glacier Blue, and Mist Purple, the Special Edition introduces Frosted White, Carbon Black, and a distinctive Crimson Red with a vegan leather finish and gold frame. The Carbon Black version stands out as the slimmest at 7.35mm, while the Frosted White and Crimson Red measure 7.4mm and 7.82mm thick respectively.

Beyond aesthetics, the Special Edition makes some notable changes to the camera system. Unlike the standard version's 108MP primary rear camera, this variant features a 50MP primary sensor. However, Xiaomi has compensated with enhanced capabilities including 4K video recording, Dynamic Shot functionality, and the ability to switch between three focal lengths when capturing portrait photos. This suggests a focus on versatility and video capabilities rather than pure megapixel count.

The battery has also received an upgrade. The Special Edition packs a 5,800mAh battery that Xiaomi claims will provide over 44 hours of use, compared to the standard version's 5,520mAh Silicon-Carbon battery offering over 38 hours. Both versions support 45W fast wired charging, ensuring quick top-ups regardless of which model you choose.
Under the hood, the Special Edition maintains the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor as the standard version, with Xiaomi promising 48-month lag-free performance. This consistency in processing power suggests the Special Edition is positioned as a premium variant focused on design and specific feature enhancements rather than raw performance improvements.

The Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition will be available in three colors: Frosted White, Carbon Black, and Crimson Red with vegan leather finish.
Pricing details remain under wraps for now, but given the design upgrades and battery improvements, the Special Edition is likely to command a modest premium over the standard model. The launch on April 2 will reveal whether these changes justify the expected price difference for consumers in the competitive mid-range smartphone market.
This strategic move by Xiaomi to introduce a Special Edition variant demonstrates the company's approach to catering to different consumer preferences within the same product family, offering both the standard model for those prioritizing specifications and a premium variant for users who value design and specific feature enhancements.
