Xiaomi launches the Mi Home Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 in China with 28,000 Pa suction power and an innovative roller mopping system, priced at approximately $395.

Xiaomi has expanded its robot vacuum lineup with the launch of the Mi Home Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 in China, following closely on the heels of its Pro variant. The new model represents a significant upgrade over the previous generation, particularly in its cleaning capabilities and obstacle avoidance technology.

The standout feature of the Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 is its innovative roller mopping system, which replaces the rotating mop heads found on earlier models. This design change should provide more effective cleaning, as the roller mop continuously receives fresh water supply while an internal scraper collects dirt and debris. The system promises better floor coverage and more thorough cleaning compared to traditional rotating mop designs.

Suction power has been substantially increased to 28,000 Pa, up from the 23,000 Pa offered by the Robot Vacuum and Mop 5. This enhanced suction, combined with the main brush and two extending brush arms, allows the device to reach into corners and clean more effectively across different floor types. The vacuum's slim 90 mm profile enables it to navigate under furniture and tight spaces with ease.

Navigation capabilities have also been improved, with onboard cameras capable of detecting 220 different types of obstacles. This advanced obstacle recognition system should help the robot avoid common household items and navigate more efficiently. The device can climb over thresholds and steps up to 40 mm tall, accomplished in two stages (30 mm and 10 mm), making it suitable for homes with varying floor heights.

The intelligent docking station adds several convenient features, including 80°C (176°F) hot water mop washing for more hygienic cleaning. The station also features a removable cleaning tray for easy maintenance. As with other Xiaomi smart home devices, the Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 can be controlled remotely through the Xiaomi app and integrated with other devices in the company's ecosystem.

Pricing for the new model is set at CNY 2,699, which translates to approximately $395. This positions the Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 as a more affordable option compared to many premium robot vacuums on the market, while still offering advanced features typically found in higher-end models.

While the device has launched exclusively in China for now, there's speculation about its potential release in other markets. Based on Xiaomi's previous naming conventions, where the Robot Vacuum and Mop 5 was released in Europe as the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 (currently priced at €599.99 at Mi Store DE), the new model could potentially be marketed as the Robot Vacuum 6 in international markets.

The launch of the Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 demonstrates Xiaomi's continued commitment to improving its smart home cleaning solutions, offering consumers a more capable and affordable robot vacuum option with innovative features like the roller mopping system and enhanced obstacle detection.
