This strategic doubling of storage addresses limitations experienced during AMD's AM4 platform lifecycle while providing immediate user benefits. The move follows similar upgrades by Gigabyte, signaling an industry shift toward future-proofing socket AM5 against potential CPU compatibility constraints.
The four affected models—ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi7 Neo, ROG Strix X870E-A Gaming WiFi7 Neo, ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 Neo, and ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi7 Neo—leverage the expanded ROM to pre-install Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 drivers. This directly counters Microsoft's Windows 11 requirement for internet connectivity during installation when creating local accounts.
