Casio has officially launched the MRG-B2100D-2AJR, positioning it as the new flagship in its premium MR-G series. This model draws direct inspiration from Japan's Hagurosan Gojunoto pagoda—a 15th-century national treasure—translating its architectural essence into wearable technology through meticulous craftsmanship and advanced materials.

The dial showcases hanadai-iro blue, a hue historically tied to samurai armor, applied via vapor deposition. This process creates a dynamic color shift under different lighting conditions, reminiscent of dawn mist around the pagoda. The dial’s deep blue hue shifts subtly when light hits it. (Image source: Casio) visually demonstrates this effect, where light refraction alters the dial's appearance based on viewing angles.

Construction sets this G-Shock apart from mainstream models. Instead of a single molded bezel, artisans hand-assembled and polished 27 individual components to achieve distortion-free mirror finishes. The carefully designed case and bezel are made of 27 individual parts. (Image source: Casio) highlights the complexity, with each section requiring precise alignment. The bracelet follows suit, featuring separately crafted dimpled links for uniform luster.

Beneath the surface, the dial employs Kigumi—a woodworking technique adapted for horology. Laser-cut micro-gaps in the face (The dial features small gaps that allow light to pass through the solar cells for recharging. Material selection prioritizes durability without compromising aesthetics:

  • Bezel: Cobarion alloy (4x harder than titanium) for platinum-like sheen
  • Case/buttons/crown: Grade 64 titanium
  • Bracelet: DAT55G titanium alloy Despite its refined appearance, Casio's Multi-Guard Structure maintains G-Shock's signature shock resistance via internal dampers.

Technical capabilities align with the MR-G series' premium positioning:

  • Bluetooth auto-time sync
  • Multiband 6 radio timekeeping
  • Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating
  • 200m water resistance
  • Tough Solar charging
