Google's AI Mode in Search has expanded to the UK with a new restaurant booking feature, allowing users to find and reserve tables through natural language queries and partner services.

Google has expanded its AI Mode in Search to the UK with a practical new feature that helps users book restaurant reservations through natural language queries. The functionality, which first launched in the US last year, now allows British users to find and reserve tables at restaurants by simply describing what they're looking for.

The system works by letting users type conversational requests like "find a table for two at a dog-friendly Italian restaurant in Shoreditch for Saturday at 7PM" or "find me a sushi restaurant nearby that has a table for four that also serves vegan tempura." Google's AI then processes these requests and returns a curated list of matching restaurants with direct booking links.

Once AI Mode presents the options, users can finalize their reservations through partnerships with major restaurant booking platforms including TheFork, SevenRooms, ResDiary, Mozrest, Foodhub, Dojo, DesignMyNight, and OpenTable. This integration means the entire process—from discovery to confirmation—happens within Google Search without requiring users to visit multiple websites or apps.

The feature represents Google's continued push to make its AI tools more practical for everyday tasks. By handling the restaurant discovery and booking process, AI Mode aims to save users time while providing personalized recommendations based on their specific criteria and preferences.

The rollout follows Google's broader strategy of embedding AI capabilities throughout its search experience, moving beyond simple query responses to more complex task completion. For UK users, this means restaurant reservations join other AI-powered features like enhanced local search results and personalized recommendations that have become increasingly common in Google's ecosystem.

This expansion to the UK market suggests Google sees strong user engagement with the feature and is confident in its ability to handle the complexities of restaurant bookings across different regions and dining preferences.
