Huawei's Pura X2 foldable is rumored to feature a 7.5-inch inner display and redesigned cover screen layout, along with multiple Kirin chipset options and up to 20GB RAM.
Huawei appears to be preparing a successor to its unconventional Pura X foldable, with new details suggesting the Pura X2 will feature significantly larger displays both inside and out. According to a tipster on Weibo, the upcoming device will sport a 7.5-inch inner foldable screen, representing a notable increase from its predecessor's dimensions.

The original Pura X broke from the traditional clamshell foldable mold when it launched in March 2025, opting for a wider aspect ratio that made it more practical for multitasking and content consumption. The Pura X2 seems poised to continue this philosophy while expanding on the concept with even larger displays.
One of the most interesting design changes reportedly coming to the Pura X2 involves the cover screen layout. On the original Pura X, Huawei placed both the cover display and camera module on the same side of the device. The X2 will reportedly break from this approach by dedicating one half of the outer shell to a larger cover screen, while relocating the camera setup to the opposite side. This reconfiguration could improve the device's balance and potentially enhance the cover screen's usability.
Under the hood, the Pura X2 is expected to offer multiple hardware configurations to cater to different market segments. The tipster claims the device will be available with three different Kirin chipsets: the 9020, 9030, and 9030 Pro. This tiered approach would allow Huawei to address various price points while maintaining performance differentiation across the lineup.
Memory and storage options are also rumored to be generous, with configurations offering up to 20GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. Such specifications would position the Pura X2 as a flagship device capable of handling intensive multitasking and storing large amounts of data.
On the photography front, the device is said to feature a quad-camera setup, though the tipster initially mentioned a 200MP primary sensor before later removing that detail from their post. This suggests that camera specifications may still be in flux or that the tipster wanted to avoid spreading potentially inaccurate information.
Software-wise, the Pura X2 is expected to run HarmonyOS 6.1 out of the box, with an AI assistant reportedly included as part of the package. This aligns with Huawei's broader strategy of developing its own software ecosystem independent of Google's Android.
Color options for the Pura X2 are said to include blue, black, green, orange, purple, and white variants, offering consumers a range of aesthetic choices.

Huawei unveiled the original Pura X in March 2025, so if the company maintains a similar release cadence, the Pura X2 could make its debut in China around the same timeframe this year. This would give Huawei's foldable lineup a timely refresh as competition in the premium smartphone segment continues to intensify.
The Pura X2's rumored specifications suggest Huawei is doubling down on its unique approach to foldable design, prioritizing screen real estate and multitasking capabilities over the more compact form factors favored by some competitors. Whether this strategy will resonate with consumers remains to be seen, but it certainly sets Huawei apart in an increasingly crowded foldable market.
