iQOO has unveiled the Dark Knight color variant of its upcoming iQOO 15R smartphone, set to launch in India on January 24 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and OriginOS 6.

The iQOO 15R is shaping up to be a compelling mid-range flagship, with the company revealing its stealthy black Dark Knight model alongside the previously teased checkered design variant. While iQOO hasn't confirmed if these will be the only color options available at launch, the Dark Knight variant offers a sophisticated, understated aesthetic that should appeal to users who prefer a more professional look.
iQOO has confirmed several key specifications for the 15R ahead of its launch. The device will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, representing one of the first smartphones in India to feature this cutting-edge processor. The phone will run OriginOS 6 out of the box, vivo's custom Android skin that brings a host of customization options and features.
Pricing will be particularly interesting, with iQOO positioning the 15R under INR50,000 (approximately $600 USD). This aggressive pricing strategy could make the 15R one of the most compelling Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 devices in the Indian market, especially considering the premium positioning of this chipset in other devices.

Industry speculation suggests the iQOO 15R may be a rebranded version of the iQOO Z11 Turbo, which launched in China just a couple of weeks ago. The Z11 Turbo's specifications provide a strong indication of what to expect from the 15R:
- Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC
- Up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage
- OriginOS 6 (based on Android)
- 6.59" 144Hz 1,260p AMOLED display
- Massive 7,600mAh battery with 100W fast charging
- 200MP primary camera
- 8MP ultrawide camera
- 32MP selfie camera
- Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner
- Reverse wired charging capability
- IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance ratings
The 7,600mAh battery is particularly noteworthy, as it's significantly larger than what's typically found in flagship smartphones. This massive battery capacity, combined with 100W charging, should provide exceptional battery life and quick recharge times.
The camera system also appears to be a highlight, with the 200MP primary sensor likely to be the same Samsung ISOCELL HP3 or HP4 sensor found in many 2024 flagship devices. This sensor, paired with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5's advanced image processing capabilities, should deliver excellent photo quality in various lighting conditions.
The inclusion of IP68 and IP69 ratings is another standout feature, as these are typically reserved for more premium devices. IP69 specifically indicates protection against high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, making the 15R suitable for more demanding environments.
With the launch just days away, the iQOO 15R is positioning itself as a feature-packed device that doesn't compromise on key areas like battery life, camera quality, and durability, all while maintaining an attractive price point under INR50,000. The Dark Knight variant adds another dimension to the device's appeal, offering consumers a choice between bold and subtle design aesthetics.
