The Minix ER939-AI Pro gaming mini PC now available for $3,810 features AMD's powerful Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU with Radeon 8060S iGPU, 128GB LPDDR5X memory, and compact design, though its high price raises questions about value compared to alternatives.

The Minix ER939-AI Pro mini PC has finally hit the market after its late-2025 announcement, bringing AMD's formidable Ryzen AI Max+ 395 "Strix Halo" APU to a compact form factor. Available now through Minix's official online store, this gaming-oriented system represents a significant investment at $3,810 for the base configuration.

At the heart of the ER939 lies AMD's flagship APU, featuring 16 full-fat Zen 5 cores that deliver performance competitive with the Ryzen 9 7945HX. In Cinebench 2024 testing, the chip outpaces Intel's Core Ultra 7 255HX by approximately 7%, making it a formidable productivity workhorse. However, the real star is the integrated Radeon 8060S GPU, which Minix claims performs on par with a discrete GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU.

What truly sets this mini PC apart is its memory configuration. The system ships with a staggering 128GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, shared between CPU and GPU operations. This massive memory pool enables local execution of large language models that would typically require enterprise-grade hardware. For context, most consumer GPUs offer between 8-24GB of VRAM, making the ER939's capabilities particularly noteworthy for AI and machine learning workloads.

Storage options include a 2TB SSD with support for expansion up to 8TB total. However, the LPDDR5X memory is soldered to the board, meaning users cannot upgrade RAM after purchase—a significant consideration given the premium price point.

A healthy array of ports are on offer.

The ER939's I/O complement is comprehensive for a mini PC. Port selection includes dual USB4 Type-A ports, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports (with two additional USB 2.0 Type-A ports), HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, dual 3.5mm audio jacks, and 2.5G Ethernet. Wireless connectivity comes via WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 through an RZ717 module in an M.2 2230 slot. Additional M.2 slots include one PCIe 4.0 x4 2280 slot and one PCIe 4.0 x4 2242 slot for storage expansion.

Measuring just 8.071 x 7.56 x 2.7 inches, the ER939 maintains a compact footprint suitable for space-constrained setups. The system employs a triple-fan cooling solution to manage thermals, though real-world sustained performance will ultimately depend on how effectively this cooling system handles the Strix Halo's considerable heat output.

Cooling will play a major role in determining real-world performance.

Security features include a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication, adding a layer of convenience for users who prioritize quick, secure access.

The $3,810 price tag positions the ER939 as a premium offering in the mini PC space. Notably, competitors with similar specifications exist at lower price points—the GMKtec Evo-X2, for instance, offers comparable internals for just under $3,000 on Amazon. This pricing disparity raises questions about whether the ER939's compact design, build quality, and brand premium justify the additional cost.

For users requiring extreme memory capacity, integrated GPU performance approaching discrete laptop graphics, and a space-saving form factor, the ER939 presents a compelling, if expensive, option. However, potential buyers should carefully weigh whether the convenience of an all-in-one solution outweighs the significant price premium over building or buying a comparable system with discrete components.
