Motorola has unveiled its new premium-tier smartphone lineup with the introduction of the Motorola Signature. Positioned above the Edge series, this €1,000 device features flagship specifications including Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, 16GB RAM, and 512GB storage. The phone stands out with its slender 7mm profile and 186g weight while housing a substantial 5,200mAh battery - exceeding capacities found in Samsung, Apple, and Google flagships.

The imaging system features four 50MP cameras: a primary sensor with 1/1.28" LYT-828 sensor, 3x optical zoom telephoto lens, ultra-wide shooter, and front-facing camera. Notably, Motorola commits to seven major OS updates - matching industry-leading software support - and includes the company's desktop mode functionality at launch. Pre-orders are open ahead of the March 1 release.

Compared to rivals like the €970 OnePlus 15, the Signature offers larger camera sensors but slightly less processing power than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 variant. Meanwhile, the more affordable €720 Motorola Edge 70 provides similar design language with a 6mm profile and 159g weight, though it steps down to a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and omits the telephoto camera.

Concurrently, Poco launched its new mid-range M8 series. The base €230 Poco M8 features a 6.77" 120Hz OLED display, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, and 5,520mAh battery with 45W charging. Its €310 Pro counterpart upgrades to a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, 6.83" Dolby Vision display, and significantly improved camera system featuring a 50MP 1/1.55" main sensor with OIS alongside an 8MP ultra-wide module. The M8 Pro's 6,500mAh battery supports 100W fast charging.

The smartphone market sees additional movement with the €750 Poco F8 Ultra offering Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 power and 6,500mAh battery, while Google's €650 Pixel 10 currently includes a free Pixelsnap charger. Xiaomi's Redmi Note 15 series also expanded availability with the Pro+ (€500) and Pro (€350) models featuring 200MP main cameras and varying chipset configurations.

This wave of releases highlights manufacturers' continued focus on balancing premium materials and imaging capabilities with battery endurance and software longevity commitments. The Signature's positioning marks Motorola's most direct challenge to established premium brands, while Poco's M8 series strengthens the competitive mid-tier segment with aggressive pricing for their specifications.
