OnePlus adds 16GB RAM to the 15R in India

OnePlus has added a 16GB RAM version of the OnePlus 15R in India, giving the phone a memory match with the higher-end OnePlus 15 while keeping the 15R's 512GB storage ceiling.

The new model costs ₹61,999, or about $655. OnePlus sells it through the OnePlus India store and Amazon India, with Amazon access limited to Prime members at launch. Buyers can choose Mint Breeze or Charcoal Black. OnePlus left Electric Violet out of this configuration.

OnePlus launched the 15R last December with 12GB RAM across its 256GB and 512GB versions. The new Indian model keeps the top storage tier and raises memory to 16GB, which helps users who keep many apps active, play demanding games or move between camera, browser and productivity apps throughout the day.

The price tells the story. In the U.S., OnePlus charges $749.99 for the 12GB RAM, 512GB OnePlus 15R. The Indian 16GB RAM version costs less after conversion, despite its higher memory count. A U.S. launch at that price range would crowd the OnePlus 15, which starts at $899.99.

OnePlus equips the 15R with a 6.83-inch display, 2800 x 1272 resolution, a 165Hz adaptive refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 7i. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 runs the phone, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.

The camera setup stays midrange flagship rather than full flagship. OnePlus uses a 50MP Sony IMX906 main camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultrawide camera on the rear. A 32MP front camera with autofocus handles selfies and video calls.

Battery life remains one of the 15R's strongest specs. OnePlus fits a 7,400mAh battery and includes 80W fast charging support, with the charger in the box. The phone also gets an advanced cooling system, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, Bluetooth 6.0, dual-SIM support, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and IP66 plus IP69K dust and water resistance ratings.

Software support looks competitive for buyers who keep phones for several years. OnePlus ships the 15R with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 and promises four OS upgrades plus six years of security updates.

The 16GB RAM variant suits buyers in India who want near-OnePlus 15 memory capacity at a lower price and do not need the main flagship's full camera or positioning. The 12GB model still makes sense for users who want the lower storage tier or prefer Electric Violet. For heavy multitaskers, the new 16GB version gives the 15R a cleaner flagship-lite pitch.
