Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi Pad 2 9.7, a compact tablet featuring a 9.7‑inch LCD with 120 Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 chipset, HyperOS 3 and optional 4G connectivity, priced from SGD 229 in Singapore.

Xiaomi announced the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 after the device appeared on its Malaysia and Singapore websites earlier this year. The tablet is positioned as a more portable alternative to the larger Redmi Pad 2 models, offering a 9.7‑inch screen while keeping many of the same core specifications. It is sold in two configurations: Wi‑Fi only and Wi‑Fi plus 4G, giving buyers flexibility depending on their connectivity needs.
The display is an LCD panel with a resolution of 2048 × 1280 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 240 Hz touch sampling rate. Peak brightness reaches 600 nits, which should make outdoor viewing comfortable. The chassis measures 226.51 mm × 147.97 mm × 7.4 mm and weighs 406 grams, with color options of Silver and Graphite Gray.
Under the hood, the tablet runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 4G system‑on‑chip, paired with 4 GB of RAM and either 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s latest mid‑range SoC promises improved CPU and GPU performance over its predecessor while maintaining efficient power consumption. For photography, there is an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front‑facing sensor suitable for video calls and casual snapshots.
Power comes from a 7 600 mAh battery that supports 18 W wired charging. In the Singapore and Malaysia launch markets the device ships with a 15 W charger, although Xiaomi notes that a European release would likely omit the charger in the box. The tablet runs HyperOS 3, Xiaomi’s latest Android‑based skin, which brings a refreshed UI and additional privacy controls.
Pricing starts at SGD 229 (approximately USD 179) for the Wi‑Fi only version and SGD 269 (about USD 211) for the 4G variant in Singapore. Malaysian listings currently show placeholder prices, suggesting the official cost will be announced closer to local availability. The Redmi Pad 2 9.7 now joins Xiaomi’s growing tablet lineup, offering a compact option for users who want a modern display, optional cellular connectivity and the latest HyperOS experience without moving to a larger form factor.
