Kospet has launched the Tank M4C, a rugged smartwatch targeting outdoor enthusiasts with distinctive hardware features including an integrated LED flashlight and short-range walkie-talkie functionality. Available on Amazon at $159 with a $20 launch coupon, this rectangular-display wearable prioritizes durability with a zinc alloy case and 5ATM water resistance suitable for swimming.

The Tank M4C features a 1.96-inch AMOLED display with 410x502 resolution and 1,000-nit peak brightness, making it usable in direct sunlight. Its sensor array includes optical heart rate monitoring, SpO2 measurement, an electronic compass, and a barometer for altitude estimation. While GPS is included for location tracking, the absence of mapping functionality stands out—users cannot import routes or store maps on the 1GB internal storage. This storage does support local music playback without smartphone pairing.

Physical controls include four buttons and a dual-LED flashlight module on the top edge, with adjustable brightness levels. The 500mAh battery delivers up to 16 days of typical use or 5 days with always-on display enabled. Continuous GPS activity during workouts reduces endurance to 21 hours. Communication features extend beyond call handling via Bluetooth to a walkie-talkie function with a 43-yard range between compatible devices.

Compared to outdoor-focused competitors like Garmin's Instinct series or Coros watches, the Tank M4C distinguishes itself with its flashlight and walkie-talkie but falls short in navigation sophistication. Its alloy construction provides greater impact resistance than plastic-bodied alternatives, though the plastic back may disappoint some users expecting full metal housing.

The Tank M4C suits outdoors users prioritizing durability and unique utility features over advanced navigation. Hikers, campers, and swimmers will appreciate the flashlight functionality during low-light scenarios and the walkie-talkie for group coordination where cellular signals are unreliable. However, trail runners and cyclists requiring detailed mapping should consider alternatives with topographic support. At $159, it positions itself as a mid-range option balancing specialized hardware with some smartwatch limitations.
