vivo has officially launched the Y05, its latest budget-friendly smartphone targeting price-conscious consumers in the Middle East. Serving as the successor to last year's Y04, this device brings notable upgrades while maintaining an accessible $109 price point.

The Y05 features a 6.74-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution (720x1600 pixels). What stands out is its 120Hz refresh rate – impressive for this price segment – which delivers smoother scrolling and animations. With 1,200 nits peak brightness, the screen remains visible even under harsh sunlight, addressing a common pain point for budget devices.

Powering the device is the Unisoc T7225 chipset, a 4G-only processor optimized for power efficiency rather than raw performance. Paired with 4GB of RAM, this configuration handles everyday tasks like social media, messaging, and light gaming adequately. Storage options include 64GB or 128GB variants, both expandable via microSD card.

Battery life emerges as the standout feature with a massive 6,500mAh capacity. Combined with the power-efficient Unisoc chipset and HD+ display, users should expect multi-day usage between charges. The 15W wired charging support provides practical replenishment speeds given the battery size.

The camera setup remains basic but functional: an 8MP primary rear sensor and 5MP front-facing camera. While not designed for photography enthusiasts, it covers essential imaging needs. Physical design includes a metal frame with plastic back panel, contributing to its 209g weight. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button offers quick biometric authentication.

Durability features include an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance – uncommon at this price – plus an RGB notification LED on the rear for visual alerts. Software-wise, it ships with Android 16 overlaid with vivo's OriginOS 6 interface, bringing customization options and vivo's ecosystem features.

Measuring 167.4 x 77.1 x 8.4 mm, the Y05 comes in classic black and white colorways. At $109, it represents vivo's strategy to capture the value market segment with practical specifications rather than flagship features. The combination of long battery life, smooth display, and basic durability makes it a compelling option for secondary devices or users prioritizing endurance over performance.
