Overview
EtherChannel (also known as Link Aggregation) allows up to 8 physical links to be bundled together. The switch treats the bundle as a single interface, which prevents STP from blocking the redundant paths.
Benefits
- Increased Bandwidth: Combines the speed of all active links.
- Redundancy: If one link in the bundle fails, traffic is automatically redistributed across the remaining links.
- Load Sharing: Traffic is distributed across the physical links based on hashing algorithms (e.g., source/destination MAC or IP).
