Overview

The mode is the measure of central tendency that identifies the most common value in a dataset. A dataset can have one mode (unimodal), two modes (bimodal), or multiple modes (multimodal).

Characteristics

  • Can be used for both numerical and categorical data (unlike mean and median).
  • Not affected by outliers.
  • May not exist if all values are unique.

Use Cases

  • Identifying the most popular product sold.
  • Determining the most common eye color in a population.
