Peripheral

Any auxiliary device that connects to and works with the computer in some way.

Overview

Peripherals expand the capabilities of a computer but are not part of the core architecture (CPU, RAM, Motherboard). They can be internal (like a sound card) or external (like a keyboard).

Categories

  • Input Devices: Keyboard, mouse, scanner, microphone.
  • Output Devices: Monitor, printer, speakers.
  • Storage Devices: External hard drives, USB flash drives.
  • Networking Devices: Modems, external Wi-Fi adapters.
